Enchanting!

This was a thoroughly delightful experience - good enough for second listen. Rich in detail; warm relationships with the sweet humor of life included. Mr. Ali shares his wisdom and advice as he moves among his diverse clientele giving the listener a slice of life for each group. Yet Mrs. Ali is right beside him, supporting his new venture, yet, keeping him from becoming too full of himself. This listening experience reminds me of the enjoyment I had from the "Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency" series.

A wonderful look at life and marriage in India

What did you like best about this story?

One of the best things about the book was that it covered more than one aspect of Indian society. The wedding customs of several groups were described in detail and with a personal touch. You felt like no one was judging the merits of any religion or group.

By following the stories of individuals you caught a glimpse of the difficulties and struggles that various people in India face. It put a face and a emotional value on the problems as well as the good aspects of Indian life..

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I was always anxious to get back to the story when I had to stop.
