Publisher's summary

In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there's an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers. Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance. From the glamorous ease of life in Prague before the Occupation, to the horrors of Nazi Europe, The Lost Wife explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength of memory.

I did not expect to become so wrapped up in this beautiful & heartbreaking story. The ending was an unexpected but welcomed turn.

Loved It!!

I need to read more books like this to remind me what the Jews went through! I wasn't born when this happened, so for us to not repeat something like this we need to study the history of it. I'm still amazed at the fact that average people stood by and let this happen! Would we do this again? Have we learned our lesson? Would we allow a government to do something like this?

Captivating story

What did you love best about The Lost Wife?

The story was engrossing, the narration wonderful.

What did you like best about this story?

The subject matter is one of interest to me, so of course it held my attention, but the prose was so beautifully written that it held my attention even through sections that I normally would pass through.

What about George Guidall and Suzanne Toren ’s performance did you like?

Their voices were age-appropriate and their inflections were perfect.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have liked to.

Amazing

Beautifully written and performed. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Graphic in a poetic way, and portrays the horrors and hope of the Holocaust in a way never before experienced.

Captivating

If you could sum up The Lost Wife in three words, what would they be?

captivating...intriguing...stirring

Any additional comments?

Alyson Richman captured my interest in the first 3 minutes of listening. The combination of story, narrators, history and romance had me listening every free second that I could muster. I was intrigued by the description of the camp, which was so different from the ones about which I have read in the past. Thank you! Be sure to listen to the author's notes at the end!
