The Library Policeman: Three Past Midnight | [Stephen King]

The Library Policeman: Three Past Midnight

Set in Junction City, Iowa, The Library Policeman is the story of Sam Peebles, a middle-aged businessman who happens to have some overdue books. It seems a minor offense - but not to Junction City's malevolent monster of a librarian. What follows is spine-tingling suspense as only Stephen King can deliver it.

What the Critics Say

"With its everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach to horror, it's no small task to bring Stephen King's novella of ghosts and repressed memories to life. Ken Howard is up to the job, however, breathing life into the apparitions, psychic vampires, menaced children, possessed adults, and tense battles between good and evil that fill this story to the brim." "Love King's novellas. Great narrator"

If you like King's other works you will like this. Ken Howard does a great job with the different characters. Very distinct voices for all of them. I was surprised to see he has not narrated much else. I particularly liked his voice for Dirty Dave and the other drunks. Very big stretch from reality, but the way King is so masterful at fleshing out his characterization is what draws me in.

    "Classic Stephen King...."
Would you listen to The Library Policeman again? Why?

As usual, Stephen King delivers a wonderfully gripping and spell binding story. One of the things that I always have found just wonderful about listening to Stephen Kings works, is that, while his stories are just good stories in and of themselves, it most often seems to me as though he finds ways to make grander and more philosophical points or commentary on society and/or hman nature, while in the process of creating a wonderfully exciting, gripping story that you will not want to put down until it is over. 4
Performance wise I was not and am never let down by the clarity and intensity of the narrator. Audible always makes for an even better presentation than actually reading the novel would. Thank you for yet another wonderful novel and story to help occupy my mind and entertain me during the sometimes otherwise monotonous hours of delivery driving that I do for work....

    "Very scary!"

Definitely the scariest and most disturbing book I have ever listened to (or read) by Stephen King! So gripping and suspenseful you might want to keep the lights on. I highly recommend the audio book version narrated by actor Ken Howard, who gives a flawless presentation!

Avid reader! Want fast paced, energetic thrillers. King/Koontz are favorites but finding more authors that are starting to rise to the top

    "Not one of his best"

Did not like the ending - thought it could be better. Not what I was hoping for.
