Publisher's summary

In 2012, a woman cuts her hand and picks up a strange colored stone - Suddenly she is staring into the eyes of an angry Powhatan warrior. And the only town nearby is Jamestown, circa 1622. Maggie McMillan wakes up one day as a college student, yet ends the day as the Red Woman: A legendary Time Walker that every loyal Powhatan brave wants to kill. Captured by Winkeohkwet, a warrior who is torn between his duty to kill her and his desire to keep her, she is thrust into a life she had only read about in history books.

Hunted and feared by both the Powhatan and the English, she struggles to find a way home while Winkeohkwet plots to keep her there. Maggie fights to survive as she finds herself entangled in the Indian Massacre of 1622, and Winkeohkwet sees everything he ever believed in shattered by the knowledge she holds. As they battle against each other and the message she brings from the future, she must decide whether to return to her own time, or to make a life in the past with the man who holds her heart captive.

Great book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have never heard anything from this author before but after reading the other reviews I tried the book. I listened to the whole book in one day because I just couldn't wait to hear what happened.

Love the story

I love time travel romance. Most of them with highlanders. This was a fresh one. I wanted to shake Maggie to get her to understand that she was not in 2012 anymore. It’s ok to be stubborn and opinionated sometimes, but she was too much.
I started reading this novel and I imagined the voices. I then changed to audiobook and it diminished my interest. Her voice was a bit (lot) high-pitched and too many pauses. But overall a very nice story.

Dara Rosenberg, you’ve successfully ruined my favorite series

Dara, if you ever read this, you could have made it work. Your voice is sweet, but you’ve got to tap into a lower range. Your voice was entirely too high pitched for the character, and all of the supporting characters. You also paused for an awkward amount of time after EVERY sentence. This feels akin to listening to a child learning to read; desperately trying to pronounce every word and pausing for approval after every sentence. This is my FAVORITE series of all time, and yet if I could get my money back for this purchase, I would. This was honestly unendurable and I’m cutting my losses and deleting it before it taints my memory of the series entirely.

I LOVED this!!!

***Warning: There are spoilers in this review***

There were moments I wanted to slap the shit out of Maggie. She was totally getting on my nerves. But I still loved the story. As for her whole thing with Benjamin, how could she not recognize him? Granted I understand it had been over a decade since she last saw him but he couldn't have changed that much. Didn't he recognize her? Why didn't he say something? As for that asshole Mr. Taylor . . . If Maggie was supposed to be his niece from England how could they all not realize that she didn't have an English accent? So many eye rolls. But now I want to know what happens to Benjamin.

Great story

This is my second time reading this series. This time I am doing the audio version and I'm disappointed in the choice of reader, her voice is not appropriate for this story. The voice is too child like. The story requires a more adult female voice. So my suggestion is to read and not get the audio version.

Could not get past narrator!

What would have made The Legend of the Bloodstone better?

The narrator

What do you think your next listen will be?

nothing narrated by Dara Rosenberg!

What didn’t you like about Dara Rosenberg’s performance?

Her voice is so shrill and high pitched and she seems to shout it at you!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I might have found out if I could have gotten past the performer!!!
