Publisher's summary

From the author of A Walk to Remember comes a moving tale of redemption and first love when a rebellious teenager decides to spend the summer with her estranged father in a North Carolina beach town.

Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels - first love, love between parents and children - that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.

Heart Felt

This book takes you through the mind of a young teen girl trying to find herself. I enjoyed the many adventures and the honesty of the relationship between a father and his daughter. He wanted to express he acceptance of her through his open handed style of love. He showed her that he trusted in her ablitiy to make good decisions even when it appeared that she did return her love. I hightly recommend this to anyone looking to find connnection and acceptance.

Grab your tissue

Nicholas Sparks tells a good story but this one will make you angry that you don't feel good when it's over. Wish the ending were different but I loved it anyway.

His best so far!

I’ve read several of Nicholas’ books and enjoyed reading them all but this one is special. I do admit that being a mom who still remembers those stubborn teen years I paused after listening to the first few chapters - it brought back the memories of wanting a closer relationship with a sullen daughter who held everything inside. The story touches the heart and as always has a happy ending

A fantastically heartwarming journey

Although this book was highly recommended, as I began listening, I became a bit hesitant, wondering if I’d gotten myself into a young adult selection. Just a bit further however, and I was captivated. What a truly wonderful composition this story is, and so beautifully set to the piano snippets! The narrator’s both were perfect for the storyline and characters. Great job all!
