Publisher's summary

When a brilliant billionaire is diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, he realizes that all his considerable wealth cannot prepare him to meet his Maker. But he has an idea that might: he will stage the ultimate reality show. With his true agenda hidden, he auditions followers from all the world's major religions, inviting them to the trial of their lives on a remote island, where they must defend their beliefs against spiritual challenges. Oliver Finney, a feisty old judge with his own secrets, is chosen to defend Christianity. As the program takes a strange twist, he quickly realizes he is trapped in a game of deadly agendas that may cost him his life.

With Internet access monitored, Finney sends coded messages to his law clerk, Nikki Moreno. Aided by a teen crypto-geek, Nikki soon discovers the key to understanding Finney’s clues in an apologetics book Finney wrote and must race against time to decipher the mysteries contained in the ancient words of Christ before her boss dies defending them.

Would you consider going on a reality show?

If you could sum up The Judge in three words, what would they be?

Thoughtful, tangled, mystery

What did you like best about this story?

Like every good mystery, it hardly ever turns out to be who I think it is

Which character – as performed by John McLain – was your favorite?

The hippy surfer guy

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Of course, but it was a little bit long for that( which I like)

Any additional comments?

Randy hits another home run for me, bet you can't guess who's the culprit either!

Wow talk about unexpected plot!

The narrator did an awesome job. Fantastic voice changes, in for films that took a well written story to new height.
The judge is not just another law story about how bad people are prosecuted, but rather a story of people form different walks of life and different beliefs can come together rise above what strange circumstances occur. A must read during these times of unrest. I think it will restore your faith in God and his ability to restore man.

Very Enjoyable

Would you listen to The Judge again? Why?

Yes, I have listened to it twice already and enjoyed the storyline.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No

Which character – as performed by John McLain – was your favorite?

The Judge himself. Old, crotchety, reminds me of some local judiciary!

Hard for me...

I had a hard time following the book. There seemed to be a lot of code breaking and redundant writing that made it hard to keep listening. I had a hard time understanding what was happening toward the end and I kept waiting for more. The performance was great. It was just too hard for me to stay interested in or to follow.

Really fun listen!

I don’t normally read Christian fiction. It’s usually cringey like Christian movies and unrealistic but this book was surprisingly great! I loved the pop culture references and how it doesn’t exclude cursing (no actual curse words were said) drinking and smoking, all of which happen in the real world, most Christian fiction stories act like it ever happens and it always takes me out of the book. The story was well written and the narrator was fantastic!! I highly recommend!!!

5-STAR Listen

This was a great story! I laughed. I cried. The story line is entertaining and attention grabbing. Randy Singer has proven that you can write an excellent suspenseful book without profanity.

The narrator was very good. His use of different voices and inflections was great.

This book will not be removed from my phone or IPAD because I will be listening to it again.

Intriguing

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have enjoyed all the Randy Singer books that I have read. This one has a different type of mode in which the mystery is solved. It is enjoyable to read something a little different.

Who has the best God?

If you could sum up The Judge in three words, what would they be?

Provocative, relevant, action

What did you like best about this story?

What didn't I like? The beginning was intriguing, the middle was exciting and relevant, and the end surprised me (I was sure I had it figured out). The issue of religion was handled wonderfully, and the characters were all so true to their beliefs. Just a wonderful story.

Which character – as performed by John McLain – was your favorite?

Nikki absolutely. The author was right on with her somewhat self-centered 20-something, no real point in life but having a good time. She's "forced" to learn from her mentor, but turns out to be smarter than she thinks. And BTW, John McLain was really good.

If you could rename The Judge, what would you call it?

Maybe "Too Much Reality" ?

Any additional comments?

This book has it all - interesting premise, religious debates, awesome characters, surprises, and a little brain work to keep up with all the codes that were solved. This author did an enormous amount of research for this book, with religion, code breaking and pop culture all very thoroughly covered. Looking forward to another Randy Singer!
