Publisher's summary

The largest known meteorite has been discovered, entombed in the earth for millions of years on a frigid, desolate island off the southern tip of Chile. At 4,000 tons, this treasure seems impossible to move.

New York billionaire Palmer Lloyd is determined to have this incredible find for his new museum. Stocking a cargo ship with the finest scientists and engineers, he builds a flawless expedition. But from the first approach to the meteorite, people begin to die. A frightening truth is about to unfold: The men and women of the Rolvaag are not taking this ancient, enigmatic object anywhere. It is taking them.

Great suspense!

This was a really exciting book to listen to. It had very good suspense elements and was quite scary at times. The end was very unexpected wondering which of the characters would survive.

A lot of fun to listen too.

couldn't put it down even listened to it while working which is normally a no-no but decided to hide by ear piece and listen to it anyway.
Really enjoyed this book and will be purchasing more from these authors.

The only point of this book is for a sequel.

The story is a good one. The characters are interesting. But, just as I was really getting into the story, the ending happens. The ending is a setup for a sequel. Normally, I wouldn't have a problem with this. Without giving too much away, the story ends in such a way that a good sequel isn't really possible. There's virtually no pay off in this book. But, Scott Brick, as usual, does a terrific performance.

Boring, simplistic plot . Very predictablie. Narration drove me to distraction. Stilted, unrealistic dialogue. Shallow

Suspense filled

As in most suspense books, you must have all the key characters identified and in place before the story can completely unfold. This story is no different but ther are so many. If you can be patient the scientific thriller is satisfying. Treasure hunting can still be done in this day and age but more thought has to be put into what is being looked for and what it represents. This story truly puts you into think mode once it is done. Not a bad thing to happen.

Good story, not so good narration

Would you listen to The Ice Limit again? Why?

I found the story to be quite good. The narration - as others have said, too - takes some getting used to. It's hard to tell one character from the other. Also, everybody seems to talk in long, bored sighs all the time.

Ho Hum!

That is about all there is to say about this book. I was not interested in the characters, not enthralled by the story. It was really stupid.

Very Interesting

Not Pendergast but still backed by the great attention to detail and story-telling that readers have come to love about Preston and Child.
You will find yourself carried along with a growing momentum, and as is the case with a P&C collaboration, by about 2/3 through, you won't want to put it down.
