Publisher's summary

"My darling Cecilia, if you’re reading this, then I’ve died...."

Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive....

Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all - she's an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia - or each other - but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.

Acclaimed author Liane Moriarty has written a gripping, thought-provoking novel about how well it is really possible to know our spouses - and, ultimately, ourselves.

Captivating from beginning to end

Not only a great piece of fiction, The Husband's Secret is an essay on the effect secrets have on relationships, life in general and the well being of the soul. Even in the epilogue you see how personal choices can change the future of a whole community. Well done!

Amazing story, amazingly narrated!

I loved this book! I love Caroline Lee as a narrator and this author does not disappoint. She is quickly moving to the top of my list as one of my favorite authors.

Worth It!

Well written, moves at a decent pace, and great narration. Author really captures the human experience. I actually cared about and felt connected to the characters.

A little honesty goes a long way

A good story that is well written. She really captures the inner you and reminds us of the "butterfly effect " of the decisions we make. I enjoyed the reader.

Decent, not great

I loved "Big, Little Lies", so I had high hopes for this one. But, I just didn't love it. I really don't understand the connection that the Tess/Will storyline had to do with the rest of the story. I was hoping there would be more of a connection, instead of the kids going to school together and the Connor thing. If Connor has been injured at the park, when Tess was supposed to meet him, that would have tied it together more. It just seems fragmented. I didn't really connect with any of the characters very much. Connor seemed frumpy and unattractive, so it was hard to picture him in the way Tess described. John Paul's daughters were hard to distinguish from one another, and very one dimensional. There were two many povs at the beginning to be able to keep up with who was in which storyline.

Couldn't Stop Listening

I had trouble tearing myself away from this book to do anything else. It held my interest so completely and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. I loved each the characters and the way the author made them so “everyday normal,” with their good and bad sides. The little bit of sarcasm throughout lightened somewhat the heavy nature of some events. I really enjoyed the Australian accent of the narrator.

What a wicked Web we weave....

Very interesting take on how lives are woven together and changed forever by the choices we make from moment to moment in our own lives.

Narration war fair. Even though the narrator does not differentiate much between the characters voices, as the book goes along a rhythm developes which makes the story easy to listen to.

Worth the read.

Good Story with Twists

Where does The Husband's Secret rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is in my top 15. I liked the story and some of the twists I was able to anticipate before they happened, but it was well written.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the characters and their development. The author does a good job of weaving the characters lives together and making it make sense in the end.

What about Caroline Lee’s performance did you like?

The narrator is good. Easy to listen to.

If you could take any character from The Husband's Secret out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Maybe Tess. Only because I would have talked with her about kicking her cousin's behind! While I understood where her cousin was coming from by the end of the book, Tess allowed her entirely too much power and access in her life. She needed a stronger backbone.
