Loved It

I absolutely love these books. I've only listened to the two released on Audible, but after this one, I think I'll have to purchase the other books from Amazon and actually read....The narrator is very good as well in my opinion, I wish she read more of these types of books, her voice is pleasant and smooth, almost calming. She does a male voice very well, unlike other narrators that tend to growl the male parts. A very good listen. If you're a fan of Lisa Kleypas or Julie Garwood historicals, you be pleased with this purchase.

Very enjoyable.....until the last chapter.

Tracy Ann is a new author for me Bianca Amato I've heard before. Tracy Ann is a talented and creative author....great story and character development. As any good narrator does, Bianca Amato brought the characters to life....giving them depth. The beginning of the book was slow for me....and the last chapter was a step too far. Personally, I have difficulty with weak and wishy-washy characters. The heroine of this story was both.....especially in the last chapter. Why, why, why would she give in to her selfish and manipulative twin??????

Good from start to finish

I read a lot of books and I found myself on a reading slump. I was looking for a book that did not have a sequel and that could not only catch my attention, but keep it as well. I decided to read this book due to the good reviews and I'm so glad I did! It caught my attention form start to finish and I loved every minute of it.

Powerful relationship between twins

I thought the story was silly; however I understand Violet's attempt to prevent embarressment among her family, his family and the ton. But she might have had the ilk to stand up to her twin sister or find a better solution to the problem. I got a little tired of the childish games they played.

This is where the performance makes the book.

Would you listen to The Husband Trap again? Why?

Yes, the narrator does such a great job. She makes you really feel for the heroine even when the heroine's actions aren't really worthy of feeling empathy for.

What other book might you compare The Husband Trap to and why?

Cannot really think of one right now.

Have you listened to any of Bianca Amato’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I will be more apt to buy or use a credit if she is the narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

The idea that the Hero gets duped in such a manor is kind of off putting, but the narration makes this a worthy listen. She does such a good job of making you feel the heroine's anxiety and turmoil that you feel sorry for her and grow to like her. I bought this on sale and I would say it was well worth the full price. I am not planning on listening to the second one because the twin is just reprehensible and I am not sure the narrator is good enough make me want to care about her or see her with a happily ever after. I will however check out the 3rd one.

This book showed me I'm not a Romance genre fan

What did you like best about The Husband Trap? What did you like least?

The premise of twins switching place at the altar in a historical setting sounded amusing. The (unfortunately) predictable story line and simpering characterization of the female lead almost made this book "unfinishable" for me. I found myself rolling my eyes frequently at the decidedly melodramatic tone, especially in the second segment of the recording.

Since the book starts with a wedding, there are many interludes of intimacy: wedding night, several days of honeymoon, makeup sex after misunderstandings, etc. These were described quite effectively, but I decided there were too many for my taste, so I began fast-forwarding through them.

For some reason, I hadn't figured out this was a Romance novel when I bought it. I expected a stronger nod toward history. Based on reader reviews, I purchased another book at the same time by this author —who is definitely a writer of some skill— but will return it.

This book demonstrated to me that I am just not a fan of the Romance genre.

Has The Husband Trap turned you off from other books in this genre?

Most definitely.

What about Bianca Amato’s performance did you like?

She offered a range of women's & men's voices with nuanced inflections and seemed to be consistent with them. Only once did I notice a French-accented character beginning to sound German. The character appears only briefly, so the iffy pronunciations of some words was not important.

Was The Husband Trap worth the listening time?

Perhaps not for me. I found myself checking the time remaining and wondering if I could make it through to the end,

Entertaining and Upbeat

Would you consider the audio edition of The Husband Trap to be better than the print version?

Yes - the narrator (Bianca Amato) helped to draw me into the story - great inflections and enjoyable character voices.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Violet of course!!! :) A woman with a brain and a heart...a REAL woman - being vulnerable and strong all at the same time.

What does Bianca Amato bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her characters have delight and other emotions that really bring the story to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!!!

Any additional comments?

While this had been in my library for a while - I needed something else to listen to - my more recent "reads" were getting me stuck, and I enjoyed this book so much that I moved forward and purchased both Book 2 and Book 3! :)
Also, I'm adding Tracy Anne Warren as another favorite author - her stories has the needed highs, lows and a bit of suspense - I found myself thinking - WHAT could be happening next?!

Narrator is horrible!

If you could sum up The Husband Trap in three words, what would they be?

I think it is probably a good story but the narrator is so bad that it makes it very, very hard to pay attention to the story line. I am going to buy the books in the series (The wife trap, The Wedding Trap, The Husband Trap) because what I have been able to listen to of The husband trap seems to be a very good story.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the characters - both Violet and Adrian. They both seem to be such good people, loving, caring, good hearted and meant for each other.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator is so bad, she makes both characters sound like such horrible snobs and the other voices are so bad that it is very distracting. You can be a snob without sounding so bad. Even when they seemed to be saying something nice it came out sounding bad. Also, between chapters there is a long pause, long enough that you think it has stopped - very annoying.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Couldn't get far enough into the book because of the narrator. Was only able to get to the fourth or fifth chapter and only that far because I forced myself. I thought maybe I could get used to the narrartor but I can't.

Any additional comments?

I was really looking forward to all 3 of these books and I will get them to read on my Kindle Fire as the stories sound so good, I've had trouble with 1 or 2 other narrators but never bad enough that I could not get through the book. I will never buy another book that she narrates, no matter how good the story sounds.
