    "Dances with wolves"

While this book is a sequel to Dances with wolves it is more about the decline of the Comanche tribe and its way of life. This book takes up Dances life with Stands with a fist about eleven years after we left them in the movie. It is a very good book and kept my attention all night, so I lost sleep. I almost gave this book five stars but have become cheap with that rating of late and save it for the really great books. It is four and a half stars though I cannot put that down. I wish they had a ten point rating system. If you like westerns and you liked the movie Dances with wolves I think you will enjoy this book. Narration is good but Will Patten would have been better. This writer reminds me of Larry McMurtry who wrote Lonesome Dove. That is high praise from me.

I am a retired Court Reporter and I LOVE books. All kinds of books but my favorites are mysteries and period books. I like civil war books and some biographies.

Good book. Dances with Wolves is my all time favorite movie so I had to get this book. There is absolutely no excuse for the way the US treated these people. Good story.

    "Wow!"

I thought Dances with Wolves was a great movie and I liked the book even more than I did the movie, especially the audio version that I got years ago on cassette. (I wish Audible had it available.) Dances With Wolves made a good stand alone novel although as is frequently the case we like a sequel so we can find out what happens in the story after the book ends. For Dances With Wolves, The Holy Road does an excellent job of bringing us all up to date with the lives of Dances With Wolves, Stands With A Fist,Wind In His Hair and all the rest of our friends in Ten Bears village. I think that the story portrayed in The Holy Road is very accurate in a historical sense. This is not a 'happily ever after' story which anyone that knows much about American history should already know. Maybe that's why this book hasn't been made into a movie. I enjoyed this book a great deal and was disappointed that it came to an end even though I knew it would when I started listening to it. I've listened to a lot of audio books over the years and the one thing that they have all had in common is that they each came to an end. Will you enjoy this book? I don't know. If you require a happy ending keep on shopping, if you like historically accurate stories then you might like this book. Whether or not you'll like this book is something that you will need to determine for yourself, but I will say that this is an interesting story that is well told and logical even though you will not likely like the ending. About the ending, this book does end the way it should.
