Three-time Christy Award winner Davis Bunn collaborates with the beloved Janette Oke to evoke the spirit of the original followers of the Way. In a first-century Jerusalem seething with turmoil, religious and political leaders eye the burgeoning Christian community with suspicion. While a Hebrew merchant and a Roman soldier vie for the hand of a lovely follower of Christ, she finds her heart drawn to another whose tireless care and unflinching faith shine daily.

"Richly textured and filled with familiar New Testament figures, their novel also meticulously describes the political climate of the time, including the conflicts between the Romans, Zealots, and Hasmodeans. More than a simple love story, given miracles, martyrdom, and men on a mission, this is the perfect tale for readers who enjoy such biblical epics as Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Quo Vadis, Lew Wallace’s Ben Hur, and Lloyd C. Douglas’ The Robe." (Booklist)
I AM LEGALLY BLIND AND ENJOY LISTENING TO STORIES OF FAITH, HISTORICAL CHRISTIAN NOVELS, AND BOOKS WITHOUT SWEARING ESP. USING GODS NAME
YES, DEFINITELY - IT WAS CLEAR AND WELL TOLD WITH EXPRESSION. IT MADE THE TRUTHS OF THE RESURRECTION COME TO LIFE.
THE LOVE STORY OF STEPHEN AND ABIGAIL
THE READING EXPRESSED SO VIVIDLY, YOU COULD ALMOST SEE IT,
MARTHA = SHE WAS SUCH A TRUE BELIEVER WITH NO HYPOCRICY.
ONE OF THE GREAT IN THE ACTS OF FAITH TRILOGY. I LOVED IT,
Another great book by two great authors! I would recommend this to anyone who likes historical fiction. It is well written and the orator does a nice job reading it. I am really looking forward to the next one in the series!
yes, read well, and I like Janet Oke!
I could follow in my head to the Bible. Still had Janette Oke good qualities!
the day of Pentecost.
I don't know
This is the first Janette Oke book I've ever read that's disappointed me. Perhaps Davis Bunn is the problem. As I read the story I just wanted it to end.
The premise of two grown men becoming obsessed with a woman they hardly glanced was unbelievable. The connection between the Bible and fictional characters was flimsy.
Don't know, can't listen.
Turned me off of Auible.com
Not from Audible.com
No, I don't have that much time, but would have loved to listen!
Can't listen, won't download to MP3 player despite customer service. Not a good experience.
