Four years ago, 19-year-old Travis Brown made a choice: to raise his newborn daughter on his own. While most of his friends were out partying and meeting girls, Travis was at home, changing diapers and worrying about keeping food on the table. But he's never regretted his decision. Bella is the light of his life. The reason behind every move he makes. And so far, she is fed. Cared for. Safe.
But when Travis loses his construction job and his home, the security he's worked so hard to create for Bella begins to crumble....
Then a miracle: A job in Raleigh has the power to turn their fortunes around. It has to. But when Travis arrives in Raleigh, there is no job, only an offer to participate in a one-time criminal act that promises quick money and no repercussions.
With nowhere else to turn, Travis must make another choice for his daughter's sake. Even if it means he might lose her.

I love espionage, legal, and detective thrillers but listen to most genres. Very frequent reviews. No plot spoilers! Please excuse my typos!
As the father of daughters and granddaughters The Good Father hit me hard. Diane Chamberlain has written a different type of suspense filled thriller. There are tears of joy and memories of my little girls many years ago in my eyes as I write this review. Just get the book; you will not regret it!
This book uses different narrators for the three main adult characters. I works well.

Great story with relatable characters that had me guessing to end.
It’s a pretty simplistic review, but it’s exactly what I would expect from this author.
I just love Chamberlain’s books! She is a wonderful writer who masterfully creates characters that tug on a reader’s (and in this case, listener’s) heartstrings. And her plots also hook in her audience so tightly that I set aside my usual audibook-listening routine of my commute and have instead been illicitly listening at work and even using headphones at home! The three narrators here each have distinctive voices and the performers all do a wonderful job. The North Carolina accents add to the authenticity of the characters. And though the plot ultimately plays out in a predictable conclusion, I don’t think that any other ending would have been satisfying and any predictability in no way diminishes the storyline.
Really, the only thing that nagged at me throughout the story is a rather minor detail. A house fire sets the entire book in motion and there is not a single mention of insurance... A fire is almost entirely covered, so no mention of it all sticks out a bit. But, without the fire, Tyler’s story would not have been as dramatic - or as engrossing - but I wish that at least a mention of how the homeowner’s insurance was overdue or something had been made... But, really, I am looking forward to both reading and listening to more of Chamberlain’s books. She is a talented author and this is a very well-performed audiobook!
It is up there with the best. I love when different voices are utilized and I felt the voices were equal to the characters role.
I really can't say, I loved the way the story came together
Travis by far
Travis, only 22 years old and what wisdom and insight. Although I loved all the characters exclusive of the bad guys obviously!!
This author is going to make huge strides!!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
As a mother, painful to listen to, but I admire and respect a good father. I was so scared for this father and daughter I was afraid to finish the story, but in the end it was worth it. I loved the narrators and the story was well read. Through all the heartache, I did finally take a deep breath and smile in the end.
The introduction to characters was a bit confusing but once you finally understand, it all becomes quite impressive. The story has so many emotions and a beautiful set of personalities. The narrator's were brilliant. It's a short story, you can't put down. I finished it in 3 night's.
It took me a couple of hours to get into this book, but then the seemingly isolated vignettes began to start to come together and the more I listened the more I was drawn in. The closer it got to the conclusion the harder it was to turn it off. I highly recommend this book, but be a bit patient through the first part as it takes a little while to establish who all the players are and to begin to see their stories start coming together.
Love to get a book that I can't stop reading. I love page turners
The book started iffy. Wasn't sure in the southern drawl I could deal with. The it quickly grew on me. Story was set up to get to know each character and development of them. Story would jump past and present to keep you guessing. The last 1/4 of book kept me listing that I missed an apt. Lol. Ended up being a great listen
