At 17 years old, Mattie Hathaway has survived her mother attempting to kill her, multiple foster homes, and a serial killer. Oh, and she sees ghosts on a regular basis too. You’d think Fate would give her a break right? Umm…nope, not Mattie.
Dan Richards is the only person in the entire world Mattie trusts, but then the boy goes and breaks her heart. Mattie does what she does best, she runs and lands herself slap in the middle of a haunted house full of ghosts turned vengeful that want Mattie to join their ranks.
Only bright spot on all this? Eli Malone - the gorgeous boy with the beautiful aqua eyes that makes her feel things she’s never even imagined before. She’s not sure what to do with him, especially when Dan shows up glowering at him.
She’ll figure Eli out if she can survive the house. The ghosts are bound and determined to kill her so she’ll be one of them. Now if she can just figure out how to survive them and the demon stalking her, she might be able to decide what to do about her feelings for Dan and Eli.
That is if she can survive the night in the house.

Yes ....because there are probobly some details I missed because I was SO incredibly spooked the first time around. Lol
I am still listening but this is the 2nd book in the series .
At first you are just listening and it all seems a bit mundane, interesting ...but then something will happen in the story that is so scary you are frightened to be alone . I don't want to spoil the story for anyone but there are a few pages that jump out at you.
I am not a kid , I have kids of my own , and I love tv shows like Ghost adventures and the Dead Files , and I enjoy a good thriller....but THIS is an unexpected and frightening series ! I love it but I would NOT recommend to younger teens.
A bit fast
Mattie - the main character.
Because she has gone through so much and she stays so strong but still she is incredibly vulnerable. You can't help but admire her.
Please continue the series. I am addicted!
But a caveat , it is highly violent and very spooky and as I said before it is more of an older teen or even an adult series even though the characters are teens and young adults for the most part.
If it was a movie it would be rated R 17 just to give you an idea.
This book was a must listen after hearing the first book. It keeps you on edge wanting to keep listening. The story line never hit a dull moment
Silus has been my favorite in this book, i couldn't explain why but in this book i like his role
the ending of the book :)
i definitely recommend this book to any reader :)
I have been an Apryl Baker fan for a while now I first discovered her writing on the app called Wattpad. This story is about Mattie, a foster child whose had a pretty messed up childhood. She was almost murdered by her foster mother in the group home she was living at. Upon coming back from the brink of death, she brought back a gift. Her gift is being able to see, feel , and hear ghosts and as of now demons. This is a great story is you are looking for a great ghost, horror story. *You don't have to read the first Ghost Files book, but it is highly recommended* to read and understand this one. Apryl Baker is a young talented writer!
Just as good as the first. Kept me in tune with the story the entire time. guessing what would happen next. I really wish book 3 was available on audible already.
It seems really rushed at times, and sometimes it feels a little bit too cliché. The main character is beginning to feel a little to overpowered, but it still grabs my attention, forces me to continue, constantly makes me want to listen. The characters are great, and the development is also great but sometimes I feel like they add things to the character without foreshadowing like it all of the sudden happens.
loved this book but so many unanswered questions. who set the protection demon onto mattie?
I really enjoyed this book, I can't wait to hear the next one and see what happens with Eli.
