Publisher's summary

A foundling, an old book of dark fairy tales, a secret garden, a maze, an aristocratic family, a love denied, a mystery - The Forgotten Garden is a captivating, atmospheric, and a compulsive listen about the past, ghosts, family, and memories from best-selling author Kate Morton.

Thirty-eight year old Cassandra is lost, alone, and grieving. Her much loved grandmother, Nell, has just died and Cassandra, her life already shaken by a tragic accident 10 years ago, feels like she has lost everything known and dear to her.

But an unexpected and mysterious bequest from Nell turns Cassandra's life upside down and ends up challenging everything she thought she knew about herself and her family. Inheriting a book of dark and intriguing fairytales written by Eliza Makepeace Rutherford - the Victorian authoress who disappeared mysteriously in the early 20th century - as well as a cliff-top cottage on the other side of the world, Cassandra takes her courage in both hands to follow in the footsteps of Nell, on a quest to find out the truth about their history, their family and their past; little knowing that in the process, she will also discover a new life for herself.

I just really enjoyed the story, I anticipated a lot of the plot twists, but that did not make it unenjoyable, there were enough surprises to keep me interested!

I Didn't Want the Book to End!!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Forgotten Garden to be better than the print version?

I only listened to the book, so cannot really make a fair judgement.

What other book might you compare The Forgotten Garden to and why?

The Bronte Siststers' Books

Diane Settlerman -- The Thirteenth Tale

Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favorite?

Eliza -- I really felt I got a clear picture of her and what she was like.

If you could rename The Forgotten Garden, what would you call it?

The Found Identity

Any additional comments?

This was a wonderful book and every day I looked forward to continuing on with my listening just as I do when I am reading a great book.

When I was getting near the end I didn't want it to be over!

Great fairly tales!

The stories were confusing going back and forth in time, that being said, the fairy tales written by the "Authoress" were wonderful.

beautiful, intricately woven story

absolutely lovely! a compelling read. the author expertly entwines multiple story lines across time and geography, never leaving a detail hanging or out of place. I don't know how she does it, but I am eager to read more of Kate Morton's work.

Exquisite Storytelling!

Beautifully written. The Narration was top notch. I enjoyed the storytelling as transfixed as a child listening to a fairytale. I’m truly looking forward to reading another from this Author. It was magical to listen to. Thank you!
