Publisher's summary

From Catherine Coulter, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the FBI Thriller series, and J.T. Ellison, bestselling author and ITW Award winner, comes the first book in a brilliant international thriller series featuring a new hero: American-born, UK-raised Nicholas Drummond.

Scotland Yard’s new chief inspector Nicholas Drummond is on the first flight to New York when he learns his colleague, Elaine York, the “minder” of the Crown Jewels for the “Jewel of the Lion” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was found murdered. Then the centerpiece of the exhibit, the infamous Koh-i-Noor Diamond, is stolen from the Queen Mother’s crown. Drummond, American-born but raised in the UK, is a dark, dangerous, fast-rising star in the Yard who never backs down. And this case is no exception.

Special Agents Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich from Coulter’s bestselling FBI series don’t hesitate to help Drummond find the cunning international thief known as the Fox. Nonstop action and high stakes intensify as the chase gets deadly. The Fox will stop at nothing to deliver the Koh-i-Noor to the man who believes in its deadly prophecy. Nicholas Drummond, along with his partner, FBI Special Agent Mike Caine, lay it on the line to retrieve the diamond for Queen and country.

UNNECESSARILY CONVOLUTED PLOT

What disappointed you about The Final Cut?

Why in the prologue she is a really tough cookie and then becomes such a scottish accented wimp? The plot would have made more sense if the "FOX" had just doubled back to NY. No one would be checking on incoming traffic, and arranging for a no hassle dlvy with the buyer would have concluded the transaction. Buying a plane and hie-tailing it to Geneva, etc when she was supposed to be very bright doesn't make sense. But, of course, the book would be abbreviated down to a couple chapters... finding Elayne's killer and chasing Salim down to retrieve the diamond. .... Also, she states it was good and bad to be so beautiful.. as if she wasn't smart enough to put on a believable disguise and then wouldn't have had to hire a look-alike. And surely after 2 years she would have known the security setup so she could by-pass it, especially during the blackout. If guilty Elayne probably would never allow herself to be caught on camera with a known criminal - if not the "soldier" would have known better than to allow himself to be caught. And a good, loyal soldier would not be killed. After all, he'd been doing his job with Annatolli for a long time and obviously was very reliable. Much more unnecessary, unbelievable plot deviations just made the entire story a farce. Even Drummond had too many deus ex machuna experiences to be a believable super hero.
And Malvaney(sp) becomes a jealous and vengful man after 25 years?? Come on, now. If he was tracking her he would have also noted she left Gant(sp) and continued on with the theft job. And how did she get out of that fire? I think Adam Hall's Quiller and all his unbelievable shenanigans are more believable than this book.

Just average.

If you like Catherine Coulter, you'll like this. The addition of Nicholas to the mix helps revive a stale storyline.

Eh... Could be worse

But could be better. A lot of talk, talk, talk when action would tell the story better.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful !!!!

I have found a brand new lead character to love. Nicholas Drummond was amazing. His partnership with Mike Kane made me laugh and sit on the edge of my seat. I finished the book in only three days because I could not put it down. or in this case, I could not stop listening.

Too predictable and boring.

It started ok but somehow got sidetracked into nowhere. I would not recommend this book except if you are on a long flight and have nothing else to listen to.

Review of the Final Cut

After reading hall of Catherine Coulter’s FBI series, I was hesitant to start the Brit in the FBI series, thinking it could never be as good. I was wrong! It was excellent and I can’t wait to read the next one. I just wish there were more than six. 😄
