Publisher's summary

From Catherine Coulter, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the FBI Thriller series, and J.T. Ellison, bestselling author and ITW Award winner, comes the first book in a brilliant international thriller series featuring a new hero: American-born, UK-raised Nicholas Drummond.

Scotland Yard’s new chief inspector Nicholas Drummond is on the first flight to New York when he learns his colleague, Elaine York, the “minder” of the Crown Jewels for the “Jewel of the Lion” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was found murdered. Then the centerpiece of the exhibit, the infamous Koh-i-Noor Diamond, is stolen from the Queen Mother’s crown. Drummond, American-born but raised in the UK, is a dark, dangerous, fast-rising star in the Yard who never backs down. And this case is no exception.

Special Agents Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich from Coulter’s bestselling FBI series don’t hesitate to help Drummond find the cunning international thief known as the Fox. Nonstop action and high stakes intensify as the chase gets deadly. The Fox will stop at nothing to deliver the Koh-i-Noor to the man who believes in its deadly prophecy. Nicholas Drummond, along with his partner, FBI Special Agent Mike Caine, lay it on the line to retrieve the diamond for Queen and country.

A new series with a Brit!

I did not want to stop the book at all and only did to go to bed. Another captivating book by Catherine Coulter and hopefully another long series. She keeps you enthralled in all genres that she writes. The changing of accents by the narrators takes a bit to get used to but they portray the characters very well. Highly recommend this book and this author.

Annoying Narration

What did you like best about The Final Cut? What did you like least?

I am a fan of many of Ms Coulter's novels, and this one was ok, but the narration was so annoying it was hard to concentrate on the story.

How could the performance have been better?

Get a different narrator ~ Simon Prebble, Davina Porter ~ anyone but who is doing it.

Just average.

If you like Catherine Coulter, you'll like this. The addition of Nicholas to the mix helps revive a stale storyline.

The Final Cut

It was a pleasure to listen to this book and to learn how Nicholas Drummond came to be with the FBI. I also enjoyed learning more about the stolen diamond. I highly recommend this book.

Coulter Does it Again!

Catherine Coulter is a dynamic mystery writer. I really enjoyed her FBI series until she introduced a wee bit too much paranormal in it for my tastes...not that I do not enjoy paranormal, but the marriage between Sherlock and Savage and paranormal was not necessary. So I've haven't read her books in a few years.

Then I saw this book and thought I'd give her another read and am so happy I did. I see the marriage (so to speak) of Nicholas from New Scotland Yard and Mike, from the FBI to be as strong and compelling a team as Savage and Sherlock.

Okay, as for the plot, so many darn threads to pull on that it was difficult to figure out how they all tied back together. And this kept you enthralled for the duration. I can't wait for the follow up...there has to be a follow up. Not that this is not a stand alone book...it is. But I need to follow Nicholas and Mike's story.

Renee Raudman and MacLeod Andrews make a wonderful narration team. Great voices, accents, smooth and sultry. It also was great that he read Nicholas and she read Mike. When teams simply alternate chapters, well, let's just say it's like finger nails on a chalk board for me.

I'd strongly recommend this book.

Slow, rather predictable and too long

While this story did have its moments, I found it to be slow, rather predictable and tedious at times. There was a lack of character development and the writing lacked complexity. I was ready for it to end.

Well written, just not quite my thing

I gave it 4 stars despite being underwhelmed, because it wasn't the fault of the authors. . .Jewel heists just aren’t really my bag. But the book was very well written, decently paced, believable characters (even the villain/s). I hate OTT villains. We get it already. Bad guy...anyhoo, not a problem with this one. Despite not being my bag, I still enjoyed it, and if you love the whole heist thing, you'll find it very enjoyable.

Great read

Loved it. Kept me intrigued until the very end. Is there another with these characters?

Very gripping story.

Catherine Coulter spins a marvelous tale. It could be true, it's plausible enough. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to the remaining stories.
