Publisher's summary

The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor: Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan.

Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth: there will, without a doubt, be a war. Her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through perilous years ahead - or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes.

I love the accents

I like the reading style & the change in voices. This is not my favorite part of the story, but still enjoyable.

D. Gabaldon is a wonderful storyteller!

Love, love, love the Outlander novels!
Narration by Davina Porter makes Diana Gabaldon’s books even more exceptional. I have listened to the entire series (repeated some of them) and am looking forward to # 10!

Wisdom of Love

As from the beginning of this wild ride, i, stand, amazed, and grateful to be fortunate enough to be swept along with the epic stories and adventures enclosed.

So much more than a romance — but a Romance as bold as this is rare indeed! This is history to breathe through, to peer into and to wrap yourself around and it around you. The characters are real. They bleed and cry and suffer and die. They live they thrive or starve and fade. But they are all real.

Onward to the next !

Finally it's here!

This has been a long time coming. For me, it's been 3 years of requesting this at least once a week. Fantastic series with a fantastic reader. Now I can finish the series and see what happens to all the characters. Thank you audible for making this available.
For new readers, I strongly recommend starting with Outlander and working your way forward. What I love about these books is that they don't fit into any specific genre. There's romance, bloodshed, betrayal, time travel, Etc., but please don't let the fact that this is a bit of a science fiction read discourage you from trying it out because there's so much more to this series. I mean, who can resist a scottish warrior.:) I myself finished Outlander in 2 weeks, and that was during my Freshman year of college, and it happened to be the end of the semester.
As I've said, these books are very different which is hard to find these days. Davina Porter is an AMAZING narrator also. Like I say, start with Outlander if you are new to this series and don't let the fact that this book is list in the sci-fi category discourage you from at least trying it.

Spoiler Alert

*Delightful Sigh*

I am really enjoying this series. However, I’m still not sure about Roger. He seems to have become a man in this book, but I still have warning bells about him.
I must also admit, that I’m still a bit disappointed that Jamie became a Free Mason.
But I was so happy about Ian coming back. I am looking forward to hearing more of his story.
And lastly, I am able to roll my tongue!!!!

The Fiery Cross

Some years ago I read the first two books of series in paperback. I have only lately had occasion to continue but have listened to two (this one just finished) out of order, not realizing the order. The ongoing saga is so compelling, I am going back to listen from the start, hoping to fill in the gaps of my understanding of events.

Young readers note: the narration is graphic, intimate, and includes some language.

I give the book's story, the narrator's performance, and overall, each 5 stars and recommend the Outlander Series to readers of historical, romance, mystery, and fantasy novels. Read, listen, enjoy.

Superb

Although there are some slow points. overall am excellent read. Davina Porter is the best narrator in my opinion out of all the audible books I've listened to. She truly opens the imagination so it's so much better than watching on a television screen!

Diana Gabaldon always delivers

This series is one of my favorites, and this is the first time I have had a chance to listen to the audio version. The reader does a fantastic job with the different voices, cute sounds, and proper intonations to give the reader a clear picture of what is happening.
