Publisher's summary

There is an old legend in Gehenna's Forest, that the woods are alive and ever watching. The tale is backed by a history of murders and horrendous accidents.

In later years the folklore around the forest has brought in tourists, young thrill seekers looking to go camping. They find excitement in the forest and its history.

Unfortunately for them, the forest is still watching, and it isn't done killing.

Stay out of the Forest

I thought this was a fairly decent really short listen. Felt it may be for younger adults due to the narration and recommend it. It contains gore and scary parts. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. Thank you.

Suicide woods, creepy girl and more

The author and narrator take you into a suicide woods and while there they will creep you out. A grudge/ring style creepy little girl will deliver the hikers into twisted and horrific deaths. Well written and well read.I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Creepy as Hell Walk in the Woods!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. It was a really good short fun creepy horror story. Just right for this time of year. It was fun to hear with enough twist and turns that really made for a great short story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jade was my favorite character. She was leading the hike into the 'haunted' woods for her group of friends. She was the most interesting of the characters and the strongest emotional for the horror they faced.

Have you listened to any of Susan Fouche’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first of her work I have heard but she did a really excellent job and I would definitely would pick up any of her other projects again on the strength of her performance this time alone.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I did. This is a rather short book so it is work listening to all in one go for the best experience in my opinion.

Any additional comments?

It was alright

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. This book was pretty good for a quick little horror fix. There was just enough blood and gore. Once I got about halfway through, the story was fairly predictable. Maybe a little more explanation of the little dead girl and her people would have been helpful for me. The narrator did a good job of making some of the female characters sound annoying and Valley girlish, which I think was the intent.

Starts mundane, ends very solid

As the title suggests, listening to this story start up, it feels like a typical cheap teen horror flick. Off into the woods. Joking about the urban legends on the way in. Typical tough-guy "that doesn't scare me" until the scares really begin. It's not BAD, but it's definitely routine and nothing that hasn't been done before.

Suddenly though, the story gets quite interesting, and it's not only because the scares pick up. The author manages to throw in a few curveballs that I certainly didn't expect, and as soon as I think I've got it all figured out, it switches up again.

Don't expect to get an ending that wraps things up in a neat little bow either. You'll need to do some thinking and imagining of your own -- but it doesn't come off as lazy or cheap here. Reminescent of Book of Shadows (Blair Witch 2), this is psychological horror done right and in a neat little package.

The narrator was good, though her overly-peppy and saccharin voices for female characters seemed out of place and probably contributed to my initial feelings of a cheesy horror film with bad acting.

Overall though, it's worth a listen, and it's short so it's not like you have to commit too deeply.

I was provided this book for free in exhange for a fair review. My thoughts are my own and aren't influenced by the manner in which I received the material.

Well Done!

Excellent short story and would be good in a longer version as well.

Narrator does well with the character voices and has an overall soothing tone that comes across well throughout the story.

I will be looking for other material by both this author and narrator!

Haunted Forest

Any additional comments?

This is a good, scary book. I was scared during some parts, both wanting to know what was going to happen and also not wanting to know. This book was written well and had me on edge the whole time. The narrator did a good job narrating the book. She really brought the characters to life and made the story even better.

I was thoroughly impressed by this horror!

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. It was actually scary! I'm so glad I won't be camping in the next few months so I have time to forget a little bit before I go out into the woods again. The narration was awesome as well! Bravo!

Creepy, Grotesque, and Haunting

Any additional comments?

This book was incredibly creepy.. I enjoyed the narration the narrator did a great job finding different voices for each character and making the book sound more creepy. I would have enjoyed a little backstory for the creepy little girl and the woods… but overall I liked the book!
