Publisher's summary

As war rages in 1944, young army lieutenant Lucas Athan recovers a sarcophagus excavated from an Egyptian tomb. Shipped to Princeton University for study, the box contains mysteries that only Lucas, aided by brilliant archaeologist Simone Rashid, can unlock.

These mysteries may, in fact, defy - or fulfill - the dire prophecies of Albert Einstein himself.

Struggling to decipher the sarcophagus's strange contents, Lucas and Simone unwittingly release forces for both good and unmitigated evil. The fate of the world hangs not only on Professor Einstein's secret research but also on Lucas's ability to defeat an unholy adversary more powerful than anything he ever imagined.

From the mind of bestselling author and award-winning journalist Robert Masello comes a thrilling adventure where modern science and primordial supernatural powers collide.

The audio was the best part of this book

This book is a rare combination of intriguing details, great story and even greater historical characters. The dialogue between Albert Einstein and Kurt Gödel was a real treat.

And the narrative performance from Christopher Lane was absolutely stellar.

Clever story, fun way to look at some history

What made the experience of listening to The Einstein Prophecy the most enjoyable?

I love alternate history, and while that isn't precisely what this was, enough details were changed to make it feel like that.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Using some history and historic figures to tell the tale was clever. We all feel a connection to Einsten and Godel, and the IAS/Princeton stories hold some sentimental charm. It was fun to see how the author would editorialize these figures and events we are so familiar with. Smart work.

Have you listened to any of Christopher Lane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He did an amazing job. I'm usually pretty tough on those who do "accents", but the choices were subtle enough not to be distracting, while distinctive enough to keep track of the speaker. Nicely done. I've not chosen him as a narrator before, but certainly will again!

Who was the most memorable character of The Einstein Prophecy and why?

I'm a character driven reader and there was a LOT to love.

Any additional comments?

I will absolutely look for other titles from both the author and the narrator. Thank you.

Fun Casual listen if Not Terribly Original

What did you like best about The Einstein Prophecy? What did you like least?

In general, the book moved quickly enough through its relatively well-worn story line - ancient Egyptian artifact has mysterious supernatural powers, beautiful and exotic young woman archaeologist, etc. - but largely compensated for the lack of plot originality with a clever interweaving of the life of Albert Einstein and his genius friends in and around Princeton University during the critical period of World War II when the future of the world could be determined by which country was first to harness the power of the atom. Since I got it on a Daily Deal for $2.95, I was ultimately pleased with my purchase.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Masello? Why or why not?

Perhaps, if I could get it on a Daily Deal.

Which scene was your favorite?

I will give the author credit, he seemed to be writing with a possible future screenplay in mind and many of his scenes were downright cinematic. I would say the scene in the Princeton museum where the protagonists opened the mysterious artifact was very compelling and visual.

Was The Einstein Prophecy worth the listening time?

Yes it was. Sometimes I put a book on 2x playback speed to hurry it along, with this book I was never tempted to do so.

Any additional comments?

The narration was solid, never distracting and with all the various accents that were called for I think that Christopher Lane did a fine job.

A suspenseful Supernatural Journey

This was a book that took me by surprise. I expected to like it, but not to be on the edge of my seat trying to anticipate the next twist! The author's style is reminiscent of James Rollins or the duo Preston & Child! Informative, emotionally evocative and nail-biting suspense set in the last days of WWII. Christopher Lane does an excellent job breathing life into the cast of characters, keeping with the accents of the time.

Engaging

This was my first ever audio book. It is in the SyFy (tv network) section of the Sci-Fi section. If you get what I'm saying. That is what I like though. Good read/listen.

Thriller!

I had no idea this was a thriller - and a very good one at that.
