Publisher's summary

The Junior League of Willow Creek, Texas, is très exclusive. Undesirables need not apply. Fredericka Mercedes Hildebrand Ware (Frede to her friends) is a member beyond reproach...until her life begins to unravel. When her husband betrays her, steals her money, and runs off to places unknown, it's something Frede would prefer to keep under wraps. The last thing she needs is to become fodder for the JLWC gossip mill. And to make matters worse, there's only one person in town who stands a chance at helping her get revenge - Howard Grout, a tasteless, gold-chain-wearing lawyer who has bought his way into Frede's tony neighborhood. But there's a price: She has to get his tacky, four-inch-stiletto-and-pink-spandex-wearing wife, Nikki, into the Junior League.

The crème de la crème of Southern royalty should sit up and take notice, and hang on tight for this irresistible tale of getting in and getting even.

It was ok

is an ok audio book, bit crazy at time.

What really bother me was those huge pause, I kept checking to see if the audio stop or I had a call.

Returned

I read the book and loved it, so I was excited to get the audible. I couldn’t make it 5 minutes. The narrator sounds like a 16 high schooler, and not in a good way. I so wish they had used the same narrator as The Ex-Debutant. Susan Bennet was perfect.

Jenna Lamia was the best part of this book.

Where does The Devil in the Junior League rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say this book just kind of ended up in the middle. It was fun but I wasn't dying to listen to it.

Would you be willing to try another book from Linda Francis Lee? Why or why not?

I would read another book by this author just because it was at least humorous and an easy book to listen to.

Have you listened to any of Jenna Lamia’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I had not listened to Jenna Lamia before but her performance on this book lead me to purchase another one of her's.

Great Fun

Would you consider the audio edition of The Devil in the Junior League to be better than the print version?

I'm neutral about this one. I did greatly enjoy this audio version but can't say if I would have liked it better in print. The narration was good but not phenomenal. For me, reading it would have been just as good.

What other book might you compare The Devil in the Junior League to and why?

I got this book after I finished ???Emily and Einstein???, Lee???s first book. I had high expectations but I almost bagged on this book around chapter 3. I keep listening because I just didn???t have any other new books in my library at the time. I am glad I did for it quickly turned into a very interesting story. Where E & E had a bang start this book started slow but I can???t say it should have been done any differently.

What does Jenna Lamia bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

The Narration was good, like I said before. Her character voices were well defined. Not any easy job with the various Texas accents to portray. This is my first Jenna Lamia novel and I will listen to others by her. She is just not in my top 10 list of great narrators.

Any additional comments?

I eagerly await another Linda Francis Lee novel.

Southern charmer!

Freddie Wear is so Fabo! I hated for this to end...what a super fun story packaged in white gloves! From the tacky neighbor to the hunky artist this book shows you never to judge a persons exterior however pay close attention to ones motives. Use the credit Ladies!

Cute story. Light hearted.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrators accent. I have lived in Texas my entire life. This is not the way a Texan sounds. Yes we have a bit of a southern twang, but this lady's over the top.

Would you recommend The Devil in the Junior League to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes. It's a cute story.

Page turner

Entertaining tale about the woes of a southern junior league clique. Narrated by the most entertaining Jenna Lamia. She can make the characters come alive with all her voices. Love love love!

Fun read!!

As a girl from the South who grew up with all of the "rules", I could totally relate to the character. Although it was a little over the top, I found this book great fun. The narrator is the best. She also narrated The Secret Life of Bees and The Help - two of my all-time favorite audible books. I may just start choosing books she narrates. I could have lived without the romance part but it was minimal and didn't detract from the book. For a fun, summer book, this is it!
