"Enjoyable Easy Listening"
Having seen the movie, but not actually have read the book, I thought this would be a nice easy listen. I was right. Never boring and keeps you interested. You feel for the main character but you really can't believe that people like this exist.
Highly recommend if you have an interest in human nature and emotions, would like an insight in to the fashion world and what people endure just to be a part of it.

watch the movie, skip the book
Admittedly I only saw the movie once years ago, but as I recall it was quite funny. The book, though, gets old quickly as all we see (hear) is a whiny Ivy League graduate who seems to think that the world owes her success as a writer. (We only see any evidence of any talent in that area in the last chapter or two). The Miranda Priestly characters (the evil boss) in the book is simply a cardboard cutout with all the depth that suggests. The character that Meryl Streep played in the book was not so narrowly (shallowly) drawn and, as such, obviously had made a Faustian bargain to gain success. There is little sense of that in the book.
So, unless you're in to whiny, entitled college grads, skip the book and watch the movie. You'll thank me.
I think that most of the positive reviews were, in fact, thinking of the movie.

Fun
If you've seen the movie, then the characters in this book will have faces for you. I enjoyed the movie, but the book is so much better. It has laugh-out-loud quality.

huge disappointment
i absolutely loved the movie, so i was looking forward to this one.. and this is the first case in my life when a movie is 10000 times better than the book.. i'm only half way through, but the narrators annoying shrieking voice matches the whiny tone of the book.. i wanna slap Andy for the way she complains endlessly..
I really hate how the story goes sofar, and i deffinetly won't be listening to this one again.

So captivating!
This is the best book I've found on here yet! I've only had it a week (probably less I think) and I've already listened to all nearly 14 hours of it. It is interesting, and well read, and a good laugh :)

I watched the movie first
I love the movie, but the book had something special to it. There were many differences such as a Andy having more of an attitude behind MP’s back. I loved that she was a little spicy and even though acted the part in front of MP she wasn’t delusional in thinking she was going to be treated any better. I loved Lilly’s character more in the book, she showed that everyone has problems and she was less judgmental of Andy about her job. Emily was fabulous in both movie and book. MP seemed less controlled on the book, I liked the fact that in the movie her words were very important and she wasn’t so snarky or almost childish. All in all the book was really fun to listen to. Sometimes the audio didn’t seem to flow very nicely from where it was cut but this is an older audio book.

Nice and Light
I really liked the narrator choice for this audio book - the humor she instills is pretty good, as well as the voice inflections of the other characters. There were times where she illustrates Andrea Sach's awe quite well.

Fun read but quite shallow
This book is a fun, mindless listen (loved the performance) but don't expect it to be as good as the movie. The character Andy is ALOT more whiny and annoying here and never really had a "turnaround" moment like she does in the movie. And the character Miranda is very one dimensional and unlike in the movie as well - she's just a "bitch" and that's it. Not much depth to her character beyond that which is a shame.
