Publisher's summary

All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.

Roland's ka-tet remains intact, though scattered over wheres and whens. Susannah-Mia has been carried from the Dixie Pig (in the summer of 1999) to a birthing room (really a chamber of horrors) in Thunderclap's Fedic Station; Jake and Father Callahan, with Oy between them, have entered the restaurant on Lex and 61st with weapons drawn, little knowing how numerous and noxious are their foes. Roland and Eddie are with John Cullum in Maine, in 1977, looking for the site on Turtleback Lane where "walk-ins" have been often seen. They want desperately to get back to the others, to Susannah especially, and yet they have come to realize that the world they need to escape is the only one that matters.

Thus the audiobook opens, like a door to the uttermost reaches of Stephen King's imagination. You've come this far. Come a little farther. Come all the way. The sound you hear may be the slamming of the door behind you. Welcome to The Dark Tower.

Set in a world of extraordinary circumstances, filled with stunning visual imagery and unforgettable characters, The Dark Tower series is unlike anything you've ever heard. Here is Stephen King's most visionary piece of storytelling, a magical mix of fantasy and horror that may well be his crowning achievement. Don't miss the other volumes of Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

Critic reviews

"A pilgrimage that began with one lone man's quest to save multiple worlds from chaos and destruction unfolds into a tale of epic proportions....a closer look at the brilliant complexity of his Dark Tower world should explain why this bestselling author has finally been recognized for his contribution to the contemporary literary canon. With the conclusion of this tale...King has certainly reached the top of his game." (Publishers Weekly)

Time is a wheel!

This review is for the entire series!

What a beautiful journey! With a lot of spins and turns, but nonetheless beautiful. There are some amazing pieces of imagination there, that will let you think about them, not only for a little while but for a long time. Probably you will wander why only 4 stars then. Well, I would have loved to see more action, and that the books are written more fast paced. They are too descriptive, and takes a long time to get from A to B. I could not say that I burned with impatience to get into the next book, and the next, as fast as I could, but I was still curious, and more than in one occasion pleasantly surprised. #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Fantastic conclusion to an amazing saga

I spent 10 years of my life with Roland of Gilead, Eddie of New York, Susannah of New York, Jake of New York, Susan Delgado, Sheemie, chasing the Dark Tower and living all the adventures along the way. I felt like a member of the ka-tet of 19, of the ninety and nine.

Through the highs and the lows, the victories and the challenges, I felt like I knew these people to the core and this book was the swan song that brought closure to a decade of my life. Hearing it again made me feel all the feelings again. "Olan" gets me every single time... :'(

Great narration and a great story!

Final Book in the Dark Tower journey

Well done audio book that draws you into King's most ambitious book of them all. The final book in Roland's quest to the Tower. Long days and pleasant nights for those who have chosen to take part in this quest and hope you don't find the ending too bitter.

Best Series Epic since the great Rings trilogy

Aye, 'tis true when said "all good things must come to an end" . I have followed Roland and his Tet through the desert, (and all the many worlds Ka has led them) for nearly fifteen years. To finally see it end (though it's been over for some time by now) saddens me to a degree. This has been the greatest (reading) experience of my life. To Audible I say thank you. To Stephen King I say thankee sai and Long days and pleasant nights, Wordslinger. May desert be kind and the breeze follow you always.

Finally I finished the series!

I guess every ending is sad because you're saying goodbye. The ending isn't literally sad. Or is it?

King's Magnum opus.

This is a western you could never imagine. The past and future are melded together and the story is so imaginative and unique.
