Award-winning author of more than 20 popular novels, six of them New York Times best-sellers, Barbara Michaels consistently entertains suspense lovers with her masterful storytelling. Despite her father’s untimely death, American Heather Tradescant decides to take the pilgrimage they had planned together through historic English gardens. Disappointed at being turned away from 17th-century Troytan House, she sneaks in, and is effusively welcomed to stay when the owner learns her name. Researching the history of the gardens, she discovers her ancestral ties and a local history of witchcraft. She is compelled to discover the mysterious connection between a bewitching maze, a missing child, and a house fire.

Devotee of multi-tasking, keen gardener and cross-stitcher. Now able to do both AND listen to stories at the same time. Bliss.
This story languished in my Wish List for months before I finally decided it was time to buy it. I only wish now I'd purchased it when I first found it (based on a search of any story narrated by the glorious Barbara Rosenblat). The heroine of this tale is an overweight American woman (Heather Tradescant), who is touring historic English gardens after a family tragedy. Heather is a wonderful character who isn't ashamed of her love of food and is direct to the point of being pushy at times. She finds her way into a private garden (to which she had been previously denied entry) and the mystery begins! There aren't huge plot twists to this tale, but Ms Rosenblat brings the story alive as only she can and I enjoyed a nice day out in my garden listening to Heather's adventures in another. Wonderful stuff, and I'm now eager to listen more of Barbara Michaels books.
The description of the grounds.
Barbra Rosenblat is the best. Sometimes I just look for books she is reading.
RETIRED & LOVING IT.
I ONLY BOUGHT THIS BOOK BECAUSE BARBARA ROSENBLAT WAS THE NARRATOR. THE TITLE PUT ME OFF, BUT I THOUGHT AFTER READING THE RESPONSES TO THE BOOK, "THEY CANNOT ALL BE WRONG". THEY WERE NOT!!! I COULD NOT GET THIS STORY LISTENED TOO FAST ENOUGH. A GREAT MYSTERY, WITH TWISTS AND TURNS THAT WERE JUST INTRIGUING. I HAVE NEVER READ A BARBARA MICHAELS BOOK BEFORE SO I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. SHE IS JUST A BLOODY GENIUS, THAT IS WHAT SHE IS AND HOW SHE WRITES. I MUST SAY, HOWEVER, WITHOUT BARBARA ROSENBLAT READING THE BOOK, IT WOULD NOT HAVE COME OFF AS WELL. I THOUGHT "GOLDIE" WAS IN A DREAM WORLD, STILL EATING. I CANNOT ENCOURAGE YOU ENOUGH TO GIVE THIS BOOK A WHIRL, IT IS SIMPLY PLEASURE PERSONIFIED. GREAT WORK, LADIES. NOW OFF TO ANOTHER BOOK BY BARBARA, I DO SO HOPE SHE STICKS WITH ROSENBLAT AS THE NARRATOR, I JUST LOVE HER VOICE AND HER EXPRESSION IS UNEQUALED IN THE FIELD.
