Publisher's summary

This book has been adapted for audio and is partly dramatised.

"The dog was lying on the grass in the middle of the lawn in front of Mrs Shears' house. It looked as if it was running on its side, the way dogs run when they think they are chasing a cat in a dream. But the dog was not running or asleep. The dog was dead. There was a garden fork sticking out of the dog."

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a murder mystery novel like no other. The detective, and narrator, is Christopher Boone. Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's, a form of autism. He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about human beings. He loves lists, patterns, and the truth. He hates the colours yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbour's dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down.

Please Note: this title starts at Chapter 2. The main character has a preference for prime numbers, so he numbers his chapters according to primes: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 etc.

Yndislestur

the first time I finished an audiobook!

An in-depth reality of a child with a complicated condition such as Asperger's. The book takes you to a stunning mind and how it works. Mark Haddon went all out for this as understanding a child is no joke. The narration was gripping with all the secondary characters and I made it through the end.
The reason I struggle with audiobooks is because I always thought they were too slow for me and I could get done faster. But then I decided to give it one more try, and ended up at audible. I wanted to finish it this time no matter how slow it got, but it never did. The story was great and narration fantastic, I could listen to it while walking, cleaning, working, etc. It was a mode of being closer to stories at the most inaccessible times. Audible made it really easy and amazing, thank you!

Gripping

Just wow. What a magnificent performance. Listening from the unique perspective of a boy with Asperger's was eye-opening. It made me think a lot about how differently we all see the world, and that the "mundane" is as about common as "common sense".

Good book, dramatisation not fitting

If you could sum up The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Dramatised) in three words, what would they be?

This book is great, but sadly choice of narrator is debatable. Main character's 15 years old, while narrotor makes it sound as if he was 10, and it changes overall feel of the story.

Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Mike Hadden's front of seat suspense that I had me using my Tom Tom and car as frequently as possible.
