Delmer was an only child born into poverty who never knew what a loving family was like. His father was an alcoholic and his mother slept with every man in town.
Delmer was abused and made fun of by his classmates until one day when Delmer fired up his father's furnace that was used to cremate the dead. Delmer watched as the flames got higher and higher and a voice from the fire gave him comfort because the voice was telling Delmer what he wanted to hear. Then, when the furnace started telling Delmer lies, he went into a rage.... And that's when the killing started.
