Ethan Cruz should be mending fences on his Montana ranch, but instead he’s driving to the Chance Creek, Montana, airport - to pick up the bride he didn’t know he had. This latest salvo in his ongoing practical joke battle with his best friend, Rob Matheson, has gone too far, and Ethan plans to send his "bride" right back home, then get busy plotting his revenge. One look at Autumn Leeds changes his mind, however. Perhaps he needs a bride, after all. A breathtakingly beautiful city bride.

Autumn Leeds needs a story - fast - or she’s going to lose her lucrative contract with CityPretty magazine, so when she sees the crazy video plea for a modern mail-order bride for a cowboy, it sounds like the story of the century. Making a video of her own, she casts herself as the perfect mail-order bride for a rancher, but when she finally reaches Montana, she's surprised to find Ethan's the perfect cowboy husband-to-be. Against her better judgment, her plan to keep her handsome groom at arm's length disintegrates into a night of passion spent in his arms.

Ethan knows he can't keep playing this game - he has to come clean with Autumn and tell her the truth; about the practical joke and about the state of his ranch. He's about to lose it all because of the debts his mother racked up before his parents' deaths. Now his sister, Claire, wants to sell the ranch and collect what little money they can. He'll be out of a home and a job, and in no shape to support the bride he desperately wants to marry, after all.

Autumn's in bigger trouble than ever. Not only has she fallen in love with the subject of her exposé - she might be carrying his child. If she doesn’t write this article and secure her contract for another year, she'll lose everything - her career, her apartment, and more importantly, her family's approval. The only alternative is to stay and marry Ethan. But how can she trust a man she's just met when she knows too well that men always let you down? Can a love based on lies last?

    Story
"If you have a feminist bone in you do not listen.."

Once in a while I like to listen to Harlequin desire type romances. I have low expectations for them but I like the fantastic happily ever afters they have. That's what I was expecting with this book. But it's not what I got. It was just ridiculous. At the very beginning I thought it was promising but then within 24 hours the hero and heroine meet, have sex and she knows for sure she is pregnant. Are you serious? She's just sure she's pregnant because she feels different. Did I mention its been only 24 hours from the possible conception. I say possible because the story went downhill from there and I stopped listening before my brain turned to mush.

If you have a feminist bone in you, this book will annoy the heck out of you. This cowboy wants a housewife who's purpose in life is to cook, clean and give him six kids. She doesn't have to worry about money because his purpose in life is to provide for her. That may be great for some but for most modern women who have a college education and have been living in New York (like our heroine) it's just not what life's all about. This book was amateur work and definitely not for me.

Narration: when I was a little girl I had classic fairy tales that included the book and the narration on cassette. I remember the bell that would sound when it was time to turn the page. Well that's what the narration of this book sounded. Arianna Westfield's voice is soothing and would be great for meditation but she put me to sleep with this narration.

    Story
"Cute Story, But Could Have Been Better"

It was a cute story, but the narrator had a flat, monotone voice. Although not an unpleasant voice, it spoiled an otherwise enjoyable story, for me. I've enjoyed most of the 'mail order bride' type stories I've read/heard in the past, and was looking forward to hearing this one.

If it had been narrated by someone like Rosalyn Landor or Susan Duerden I'm sure I could rated it a 4 or 5 Star.

There's nothing wrong with the story, it was the delivery that made it rather boring, so I could not recommend it.
