"An original holiday story with meaty content"

Whether you're following this series or this group of characters is new to you, you will find them pesenting a holday story well worth hearing! So many holiday stories are predictable, honey-sweet stories that don't challenge the listener. The characters in the series have become old friends over time, but whether you're new to the series or not, you won't be sorry if you choose this story for the holidays. At first, I wasn't sure that I could listen to Christina Moore as the narrator, but I've found that she's become the perfect voice for characters that I've grown to love. I am not a quilter and thought the subject matter might be boring, but I was wrong! I learned about history while treating myself to a 'clean' and 'uplifting story' that was meaty in content and very different than the usual holiday story line. It was wonderful to be able to play this book in the presence of children and friends without needing to apologize for curse words or x-rated content. If you choose this book, you'll have a rich story with historic content that you will find enriching to your modern holiday. Sometimes, we grow tired of 'so many sweets' at the holidays and we find ourselves craving some calories with nutritional content - you'll find that in this story!

    "Good Story"

The story is good, only drawback is that it was recorded from a cassette and it states to turn the cassette over. Otherwise, good Christmas story.

    "Beautiful story-lots of threads."

I live to sew and sew to live. I love being able to listen to these wonderful stories of women lives, friendships and challenges while I'm sewing. You really don't need to know how to sew or quilt to appreciate thesae stories. I have also listened while driving and not wanted to get out of the car after an entire day of driving.

    "nice light christmas story"

I enjoyed this light christmas book about generations working on an unfinished quilt. It was light, pleasant, with a nice Christmas ring to it. An easy festive listen.

    Story
"What was the point of this?"

I love this series, but this was very disappointing. I don't get it - for one thing, it's either placed out of order in the series or just goes back in chronology, but at least 60% of it hashes over events that were included in the previous books, often using the exact same words to relate the event. It was previously recorded on cassette and annoyingly tells us to turn the cassette over. I can't help but think the author needed some extra cash for Christmas shopping so hastily pieced together (no pun intended) little bits of previous stories and published a quick summary. Don't bother with this one. You won't miss anything! I will go on to the next and hope that she returns to the well written, enjoyable stories that I have so far loved.

    "Nothing new, don't bother"
What would have made The Christmas Quilt better?

    Something new to the story.

What was most disappointing about Jennifer Chiaverini’s story?

This a repeat of what was covered in book one.

What does Christina Moore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Great narator

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It repeated history covered in book one

    "too much repeat"

If you've read the first book of the series, there's a lot of repeat in this one. You get more details on a couple of the stories, but there were lots of places I wanted to skip ahead because I'd heard it all before.

    "a pleasure to listen to"

I had read these books many years ago and enjoyed them very much so listening to them while I work on my own quilts is a real treat. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the series.

"Sweet Christmas story about the meaning of Family"

Wow, I was not expecting to listen to a book that had previously been recorded on cassette tape, I have such fond memories of laying on a quilt pallet at my grandmothers house listening to her talking books with her (she was blind). She would have throughly approved of this story.
