Publisher's summary

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life, including boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies, he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door.

Despite his attempts to be neighborly, the appealing redhead seems to have a chip on her shoulder about him...and the presence of her longtime boyfriend doesn't help. Despite himself, Travis can't stop trying to ingratiate himself with his new neighbor, and his persistent efforts lead them both to the doorstep of a journey that neither could have foreseen.

Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage, and family, The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heart-wrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

not a book I'd listen to twice

after chapter 14 it just moved too slowly. I had to keep turning it off then restart it from boredom.

Easily predictable story with no real progression.

Easily predictable story with no real progression over time.

the introduction to the characters is what we see them as at the end of the story. This is a problem for a book based entirely on personal and character development.

An emotional roller coaster

All Nicholas Sparks books are good. Some have action, some have the villain Who inevitably gets his due, and some like The Choice take the reader from happy to sad to happy. It's a book filled with smiles and tears and decisions no loving spouse should ever have to make.

Good Listen - Ends a Little Slow

Any additional comments?

I thought this book was a good listen. The beginning and the whole love story part was really great. The part during the last 5-6 chapters went a little slow for me...but good overall story!

Nicholas Sparks should team up with Disney!

I just finished listening to this book. I feel like I am comparing every book I listen to now to The Notebook. Now that was a TRUE love story. This book over all was just OK. The beginning was a drag and I didn't think I could ever get past the ramblings about the dogs. Then it got pretty good towards the middle and the ending was just too good to be true. I guess maybe I am just cynical but "happy endings" like that rarely happen. When is someone going to write a book where the main character dies or the love of their life falls in love with someone else? It's like listening to a Disney story. "Boy meets girl and they live happily ever after"

Sparks is AMAZING as always

I haven't read a Nicholas Sparks book that doesn't hold me captive to the very last word and of course he didn't disappoint this time! The Choice is emotionally real and at times gut wrenching, the characters are believable; someone you'd enjoy meeting and hanging out with. I'm sure I will read it many times again.
