Publisher's summary

The port of Miami brings in millions of dollars worth of cocaine every year, and the Cartel controls 80 percent of it. The Diamond family is a force to be reckoned with, but all hell breaks loose when they lose their leader. The most ruthless gangster Miami has ever seen, Carter Diamond, leaves behind a wife, twin sons, a daughter, and a secret - his illegitimate son, Carter Jones. When young Carter learns of his father’s death, he comes to town and is introduced to the legacy of the Cartel.

Miamor is a woman who uses her beauty to enhance her skill as a contract killer. She is the leader of the Murder Mamas. When her crew is hired to take down the Cartel, they slip up, and Miamor loses her sister in the process. She is determined to get revenge. Unknowingly, she meets the son of Carter Diamond - and he immediately catches her heart. She is sleeping with the enemy, and when she finds out, she is torn between love and revenge.

Young Carter and Miamor lead two different lifestyles. They are on opposing teams, and when their worlds collide, the truth will be unveiled in an unpredictable ending.

Ghetto story

I would have liked to have two different voices. A man for the men and a woman for the women

Completed in One Day

This book ranks very high in my library. I remember the Murda Mamas from Murderville which I am still waiting for part 2 of that TRILOGY. I finished Cartel the same day and listened to it a second time so I could be ready for book 2 which I am purchasing TODAY!! I loved the twists and the drama. I really hope part 2 is just as intriguing. So far Ashley and JaQuavis is 2 for 2. GREAT AUTHORS!! Unpredictable storyline.

There were a few predictable moments.

Overall, it was entertaining. Being that I am Haitian and from Haiti, it's obvious that not much research was done to learn about the way Haitian men speak with the correct accent. Also, Haitian men don't really wear dreads the way it's portrayed in the book. I guess, the writers watched Bad Boys' fake portrayal of Haitians and ran with that🤦🏽‍♀️
Haitians' accent and Jamaican accents are very different.
