The port of Miami brings in millions of dollars worth of cocaine every year, and the Cartel controls 80 percent of it. The Diamond family is a force to be reckoned with, but all hell breaks loose when they lose their leader. The most ruthless gangster Miami has ever seen, Carter Diamond, leaves behind a wife, twin sons, a daughter, and a secret - his illegitimate son, Carter Jones. When young Carter learns of his father’s death, he comes to town and is introduced to the legacy of the Cartel.

Miamor is a woman who uses her beauty to enhance her skill as a contract killer. She is the leader of the Murder Mamas. When her crew is hired to take down the Cartel, they slip up, and Miamor loses her sister in the process. She is determined to get revenge. Unknowingly, she meets the son of Carter Diamond - and he immediately catches her heart. She is sleeping with the enemy, and when she finds out, she is torn between love and revenge.

Young Carter and Miamor lead two different lifestyles. They are on opposing teams, and when their worlds collide, the truth will be unveiled in an unpredictable ending.

Pronunciation Pls!

Story good. However, the narrator could be better if he perfected his Haitian accent to sound less like a Jamaican one. Also, HERMES is not "Hermies", it is "Er-Mez"!

Narrator is horrible

It started at a nice pace, but by the next chapter, it slowed down considerably.. not very many of the characters are likable and I found myself cheering for people to be murdered, and that doesn't sit well with me... also, Cary the narrator tells the story like this was the first time reading it... if I listen to book 2,I hope they paid someone else better to read it

A ghetto fabulous phenomenon

From the time this novel first started it was unthinkable drama. I love how "Thomas Caarter", the father, built a multi-million dollar drug cartel empire. He treated his family, soldiers, and business partners very well, fair, and just. I hate the way that he was killed. I do appreciate his "illegitimate" son Carter stepping in to help the family out after his father's demise. Mostly their entire family was killed in the first book. I felt so bad for "Breeze Diamone", the daughter of "Thomas Diamond". She was truly a innocent soul that fell in love with her body guard. I hate that she was kidnapped. I hated that when “Breeze’s” brother, Mecca was told any task to do. He just took it upon himself to do what he wanted and messed everything up. “Mecca” loved to blame everyone else for all of the trouble he made and problems that he caused. His father always told him abut his temper. “Mecca” is a hot-headed, selfish, psychotic, and devious supervilion to his own family members. This book is filled with so many secrets that you will need to read "The Cartel" book 1 to understand how it all started.

Waiting on the Movie Series

What made the experience of listening to The Cartel the most enjoyable?

I could picture and unfortunately relate to much of what was going on.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite characters were too many to name, all of the Cartel and Mia were all vividly painted and quite entertaining.

Which character – as performed by Cary Hite – was your favorite?

Young Carter was the best performance, very cool and sexy.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and cringed quite a bit. I could predict much of the storyline and dialogue but this did not stop me from listening it was amazing.

Any additional comments?

This story should really be made into a movie. Most females don't like watching gangster flicks but as one who watched Scarface and King of New York with my dad I really love this kind of stuff LOL. It would have to be rated NC-17 but it would be well worth it.

Up in your face and to the point!!

What made the experience of listening to The Cartel the most enjoyable?

The twists and turns in the storyline were captivating. There were no lulls in this book.

What does Cary Hite bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Cary Hite was wonderful!! I loved how he brought the characters to to life. Each character that he read had their own voice. He did an excellent job of portraying the emotions of each person.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

great story.

I love the story. read the third book in the series first and had to buy the rest. I own all but six and the murder mommies. however the narrator could be better. he kinda kills the story with proper English when using the street terms in the book. when I read them it seemed more real then listening to him read.

Catching story line

The story line is entertaining. It leaves you wanting more . However , I question the street suaveness of the authors . There is a lot of sociological ignorance in the book including colorism. Stating that you can decipher a group of people’s ethnicity based off of nothing but their appearance is a bit non progressive . Lastly, the readers voice overs where hilarious 😂😂😂 Despite being a big irritated by some aspects of the writing , I am intrigued , and will read more from the trilogy .
