"An absolutely hilarious, laugh out loud book." (Bruce Reynolds)
"Danny King is one of the few writers who can make me laugh out loud." (David Baddiel)
I really enjoyed this book. Had read it before in print and was interested in hearing how it sounded. The actor had quite a different notion of the character of the narrator than I'd heard in my head, but it was nevertheless worth encountering another interpretation. He's more sinister, not quite so madcap as I'd expected. More menacing. Delightful. One warning: unless you want your kids and old relatives asking you to explain the "c"-word, you might want to listen alone. The punch-drunk language is great; the gratuitous swearing is absolutely crucial to understanding the characters' way of life.
This is a very, very funny book and the narration is outstanding. The british accent and slang is dense and takes a while to get used to. It is by all means worth the effort though: it is funny, witty, and highly original. I hope it will have a sequel!
"Another Brilliant listen"
Danny King does it again.
I loved the hitman diaries and this is just as well written and will have you laughing, chuckling and giggling before you realise everyone else is watching you.
"Fun but pointless"
The naration was good, stories amusing, but there was no plot or story whatsoever. You could listen to the chapters in order and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
It's fun for a light 'read' if you want to switch off, or are likely to fall asleep half way through, but that's all.
"more f-words then me gran"
more f-words then me gran after three glasses of gin, but alot more fun, just like the other diaries. its a off the wall look a peoples lifes, hope they do the rest.
