Fast paced excellent story

Liked everything. John Corey teaser appetizer for fans of Corey the smart mouth detective. Very genuine humor mixed with good detective novel

Really good short story

I really enjoy the Jon Corey series and this iteration, while extremely short was very good. I cannot think of a better Narrator/Character association than Scott Brick as Jon Corey - in every one of the books there are numerous laugh out loud moments to go along with intense detective/thriller story lines. This particular short story is of Corey before he came to work for the anti terrorist task force, back when he was an NYPD detective. As you can imagine the plot cannot be too complicated in this one as the story is less than 2 hours - it is however an interesting story line nonetheless. I wouldn't recommend using a credit since it is so short but if you are looking for an enjoyable short story in between longer novels then I would recommend getting this one.

Who Knew?

A great to-the-point detective story. There is little extra. Who knew DeMille could write like this? Scott Brick, who's voice is synonymous with John Corey's cynicism, did a great job as always. DeMille's sense of humor also comes through: "a flasher on the corner..." Witty!

Short but Sweet

If you could sum up The Book Case in three words, what would they be?

Classic Detective Corey

Who was your favorite character and why?

John Corey - Great wit and clear thought processes throughout - classic John Corey

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Outstanding feel for the characters, especially the sarcasm of Detective Corey. I would have a hard time listening to another narrator try to portray him.

If you could take any character from The Book Case out to dinner, who would it be and why?

There were amazingly few characters in this short story, occurring in a book store over a few hours (only one female), so I would have to answer the dead guy's wife (I don't take guys out to dinner).

Any additional comments?

An excellent story, which can be read at any time in the John Corey series, as it occurs prior to his current story line. Might recommend this prior to beginning the series with Plum Island.

Wish it was longer

I love Nelson DeMille and John Corey. I just wish it was longer, excellent and fun story. Can't wait for more DeMille.

Probably worth the $2.44 I spent on it. Maybe.

This early John Corey is not the smart-ass I have grown to love. I'd say skip it but it takes such a shot time to listen to it why not listen.. I don't think it adds anything to the John Corey picture.

Fantastic short story

Fantastic little short story. Loved listening to Corey back in the day as a straight up police detective. Can’t recall if DeMille has written more Corey short stories but if so I’d love to read them. DeMille+Corey+Brick is as good as it gets.
