No Mystery Here

Knowing this is a short story, I realize there isn't time to develop subplots and twists. That said, it is obvious from the start who is the murderer. Maybe if there had been a interesting motive for the murder or if there had been some big secret to reveal it would have been better. The story does give the reader another glimpse of John Corey and how he thinks. Overall it was okay.

Pure DeMille

Pure DeMille and his character is right in form. A nice short read when that's what one is looking for.

Case opened, case closed

What made the experience of listening to The Book Case the most enjoyable?

Always a treat to listen to Scott Brick narrate a DeMille story.

What other book might you compare The Book Case to and why?

Young Sherlock Holmes,

Which character ??? as performed by Scott Brick ??? was your favorite?

Corey, of course.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was a nice introduction to young detective Corey with just a glimpse of the sarcasm and humor he will develop later. I love the guy. One of my favorite characters of all time. The only drawback is that it was limited by being a short story. The whole thing was solved in less than a day. Felt a little but like a TV episode. Otherwise it would have gotten the fifth star.

Fantastic

excellent as all DeMille's book, it reads with ease with just that right amount of humor.

Narration awful

The narration pretty much ruined the whole story for me. Doesn’t fit my vision of what John Corey should sound like.

Predictable novella

Although predictable, I did enjoy this short story featuring NYPD Detective John Corey. The snarky humor was entertaining. Scott Brick is a wonderful narrator.

Too short

I am a big fan of the John Corey books. But this little story at near 2 hours long should have been one of others included in the purchase. Too short to pay full book price.
