nice start

hopefully this short story will be the beginning of some 'prequel' novels involving demille's character 'john corey.' if this author was testing the waters for this purpose, it gets my vote.

Excellent Short Story

I don't know why DeMille doesn't write more detective stories from John Corey's early police career. The concept works. Would love to read/hear more like this one.

It's John Corey... which is almost enough

It was fun listening to a story about the pre-ATTF days of John Corey. He's an enjoyable character, and DeMille is a terrific writer and enjoyable to read. That said, as a mystery/detective story it falls flat. It was obvious who did it and what their motives were from the outset and there really were no twists of plot at all. Pretty pedestrian truth be told.

As for the Narration, well it's Scott Brick. Need I say more? He's a master.

John Corey Strikes Again

DeMille hits another home run with John Corey in this short story. Entertaining with a couple of laugh out loud moments. Scott Brick does another wonderful job narrating the book.

Sweet and short

What did you love best about The Book Case?

Clever title, great little short story. I have read all of Nelson deMille's books, and then listened to them as audio books again, just for the fun of it. John Corey is a great character, even though "The Book Case" presents him rather tame in his earlier years on the police force.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Everything, as always. Scott Brick IS John Corey,

Another Great Nelson DeMille Book

What did you love best about The Book Case?

Although this was a short story and only a couple of hours long, it was typical John Corey. DeMille's Corey novels are one of my favorites and nobody could ever replace Scott Brick's reading of this series. I've listened to every one of the John Corey novels from audible.com and each one is a great as the next.

What other book might you compare The Book Case to and why?

Another series which I love and is similar yet very different is The Retrieval Artist series by Kristine Kathryn Rusch.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Scott Brick is consistent in his reading of this character.
