Almost perfect

I gave this audiobook 5 stars based on the novel itself. It's incredibly poignant, as well as controversial. I love how she handles everything from a strict Biblical standpoint, while still making the characters very very real. It's also a very hard look at modern day Christians (though the copyright is over 10 years ago0: hypocrisy, showing how Christians are prone to attacking their wounded, and how compromise based on pity and what's easiest is not always what's right. Incredible, heart-wrenching book.

That said... I hated the narration. Ruth Ann Phimister is an excellent narrator, don't get me wrong... but I did not feel that her voice fit this book in the slightest. I could understand her narrating And The Shofar Blew, because the main characters were older, one even elderly, so I could understand... However, with the main character of this story being 18, with a lot of other young characters, her voice was just not believable to me, and took away from what I consider to be an amazing novel. Kate Forbes would have been a better choice (narrator for Redeeming Love).

Overall though, I highly recommend this book. It pulls your heart in two directions, while gently steering you toward sound Biblical principles. A must read for any woman, or man for that matter.

thought provoking

this story was written to make you think about chioces and consequences of decision made and how relationships may or may not play apart in the outcome of a decision.

Important story!

So faith building! A book to help us all take courage to listen for God’s voice and trust his plans and love in really hard life situations.
It was a beautifully woven story covering 4 generations facing the pain and trauma of losing or aborting a child. The book exposes many false assumptions and outright deceptions surrounding the practice and long term, often generational consequences of abortions.
But the book is not preachy or political- it is real, tasteful and heart-wrenching At Times. I loved it!

Grace

Awesome testimony of Gods grace in a sad situation. My husband and I listened to it together.

This book stirs deep in the heart.

Francine Rivers is one of my favorite authors. She has a way of drawing you into the story. This topic she covers had me cringe several times for personal reasons. Overall, she did a great job seeing this topic from every angle.

Good book, horrible choice for a narrator.

I enjoyed the content but never really could get past the narrator.

The whole first part of the book is supposed to be from a 20 year olds point of view and it sounds like its being read by a grandma. When she does make voices it sounds like when I playfully mocking my husband.

I did like the book though.

Good story, different narrator

Should’ve used a different narrator
However, I thought it was a beautiful story. I know some people complained that it was all about abortion, however, I felt it was as much about the way we treat those who are facing a terrible choice. As one of the characters put it we spent too much time, trying to save the babies lives without thinking about the girls.
