Perfect Timing for a Great Book

My yellow Labrador Retreiver Sasha passed away recently at age 14. This book was highly recommended to me and I enjoyed it from the first page. The story is beautiful and the narration was the best I have ever heard. I laughed and cried like so many other reviewers. Unlike any other book, I felt like this was written just for me. And the timing could not have been more perfect and it helped put a lot of things into perspective. It is difficult to say much more without giving key aspects of the story away. I highly recommend it. For anyone who has has a truly lived with a great dog, who was a family member and loving friend -- not a pet, this wonderful book celebrates that very special and unforgettable experience. Thank you Sasha!

Ouch, my heart!

OH, how I loved this book. I wasn’t expecting much from it, to be honest, but it was exceedingly heartwarming and a joy to read. As a person who has always had dogs (my childhood was spent surrounded by the companionship of large retrievers) this book really hit me in the gut. From the perspective of a person who’s always looked at her dogs and thought of them to be so wise and such wonderful companions, this book perfectly put into words the many thoughts I’ve always known my dogs to keep. Enzo is introspective and a steadfast companion and perfectly illustrates a dog’s biggest flaw: that there is truly never enough time with them.
