utterly excellent

of course everything is relative, but I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this book. There was an element of this book for which I had particular empathy, but regardless of your background I found this book as being particularly special. I hope others read it and get as much enjoyment from it as I did.

Great but very sad

This was an excellent listen, but as others have said, VERY sad, often leaving me with a blue feeling after listening. But the dog, Enzo, his voice and perspective make it worthwhile. This would not be good for kids, or maybe even younger teens.

Music?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story was amazing. It made it cry, which is the highest compliment I can pay a book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Art of Racing in the Rain?

Beware the zebra.

What does Christopher Evan Welch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Somehow Evan makes the voice of the dog believeable. I could truly envision Enzo though his voice.

Any additional comments?

The only problem with the book was in the strange inclusion of music passages at strange intervals which sometimes overlaps the narration, making it difficult to hear.

Wonderful story. A must read. Extremely heart warming. Really made me think of how my own dog perceives life.

It's a 10 for sure!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It starts a bit slowly - but like a race car it quickly steps up the pace chapter by chapter. By the end you are racing with emotion. You almost feel like Enzo - you want to SCREAM at the "twins" but can't.

What other book might you compare The Art of Racing in the Rain to and why?

A Dog's Purpose - as it is told from the dogs perspective

What does Christopher Evan Welch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The way he expresses his (Enzo's) emotions is phenomenal. One of the better narrations I have experienced.

Moving and poignant!

I have listened to many audio books on Audible from many different genre over the past 6-7 years. This is my favorite! Could be because I am a dog (and cat) lover? Maybe. I think too because the story transcends our human paradigm. The writer and the narrator guided me on a journey of possibilities beyond our human stories of limitations. Funny thing is, I am not an auto racing fan and yet I understood the metaphors and "lessons" extracted from the racing world. This is a beautifully written story, very well told by the narrator. I recommend it for adults young and old. You do not have to own or love dogs to enjoy this moving story. It also would make a wonderful gift for someone in your life going through any transition - from graduation to the death of a loved one, to marriage, job change etc. - or just because. Enjoy!
