Poignant and fun at the same time

Highly recommend this clever book -- easy to listen to and the lead character is insightful and loveable. I got a bit teary, but uplifting in end -- certainly not a downer. Hoping to read more from this author.

Must listen

This book is brilliant. Told through the eyes of a beloved dog. It is a must read/listen for any collector of stories. I am not a race fan and there is quit a bit mentioned in the book but the story is simply about the love of a dog, through a dog's eyes, for his master. There were some parts that were very emotional. Loved it.

One of THE BEST books I've heard in a long time...

Where does The Art of Racing in the Rain rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is probably the best one so far. I bought it on a whim and fell in love with it. It wasn't even the type of book that I was looking for that day. I have recommended it to more than one person.

Which character – as performed by Christopher Evan Welch – was your favorite?

My favorite was, of course, the dog. I loved Enzo instantly and constantly!

Any additional comments?

I'm a dog person. This book made me laugh a lot because I sometimes think my dog thinks this way. This book made me cry as well...more than once. It's a touching story about love and loss (in more than one way). The ending though took the cake. I was boohoo-ing for 15 mins after it ended because Enzo's dream came true! Gosh, what a sap I am!

Wonderful escape

I had some misgivings about this one, but I couldn't resist. I'm glad I didn't. It was wonderful - sweet, sad, a driveway-sitter. Enzo (the dog) knows just enough to make him a believable narrator, yet has a doglike naivete - nice job by Stein. It is somewhat predictable and a little syrupy at times, but this is forgiven.

To the producers: PLEASE LOSE THE **** MUSIC!!! This gets worse every year. Now they fade the music for about 10 seconds into the text so you can't even skip through it. PLEASE STOP!!!

Thanks,
Rick

Enjoyable story told from the standpoint of a dog

I enjoyed this story of dog's life with his human owner and the dog's viewpoints of their life together. Well written and narrated. Similar, but not identical to the recent "A Dog's Purpose".

Get rid of the music

I thoroughly enjoyed the book but felt the dramatic music between chapters was out of place and a bit annoying.

Best book :)

This is one of my top five favorite books of all time. I own a copy, and read it several times before buying it on Audible. Love it. Mr Stein provides a truly believable voice for a dog- at least, it's believable to me, because of my dogs.
