Publisher's summary

The one and only Fannie Flagg, beloved author of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, Can't Wait to Get to Heaven, and I Still Dream About You, is at her hilarious and superb best in this new comic mystery novel about two women who are forced to reimagine who they are.

Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Sookie begins a search for answers that takes her to California, the Midwest, and back in time, to the 1940s, when an irrepressible woman named Fritzi takes on the job of running her family's filling station. Soon truck drivers are changing their routes to fill up at the All-Girl Filling Station. Then, Fritzi sees an opportunity for an even more groundbreaking adventure. As Sookie learns about the adventures of the girls at the All-Girl Filling Station, she finds herself with new inspiration for her own life.

Fabulous, fun-filled, spanning decades and generations, and centered on a little-known aspect of America's 20th-century story, The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion is another irresistible audiobook by the remarkable Fannie Flagg.

Critic reviews

“A beautifully told tale, world-class humor, and characters who live forever in a grateful reader’s world. Fannie Flagg keeps getting better and better. The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion proves it.” (Pat Conroy)

“Flagg spins another charming tale of the peaks and valleys of everyday life.... If all the self-help books that promote ways to ‘find yourself’ were stacked in an enormous pile...none would approach the sweet wisdom with which Flagg infuses The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion. And neither could they match the author’s essential kindness, nor her unwavering tenderness toward and belief in humanity, despite all its foibles and foolishness. She understands, but she does so with love.” (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

“The kind of story that keeps readers turning pages in a fever... There are plot twists, adventure, heartbreak, and familial love in spades.” (Publishers Weekly)

Loved the History Embedded in this Story

Listened to this on our annual summer trip to the mountains. We enjoyed the story, especially the history of the WASPS, and their eventual recognition by our country. Fannie did a great job with reading the story; we enjoyed her accents for the different characters. I’ve always been a fan of Fannie Flagg, and this book did not disappoint!

Funny historical fiction.

Loved the story and the link to female pilots during WW2. Excellent performance by the reader.

Memories of Sisters who cared about each other

This book was different than I have ever read. Really enjoyed the narrator, but not some of the swear words so much

A very good story! True Fannie Flagg fashion.

First I need to say that I truly enjoyed this story.....Fried Green Tomatoes was one of my all time favorites...Ive watched the movie over and over. The thing I could not get used to thru this entire story was the narration. FF voice/tone is excellent....but I just could not get used to her style of narration. She is an excellent reader- but her annunciation of every single syllable was very distracting for me.....which is I gave performance & overall a 3 star. If one were listening to her recite- or deliver a speech- this would have been excellent....the perfect place for FF style of reading.....it just didn't do it for me in this book. I loved the story and the characters....I burst out laughing many times as it was truly FF humor. I kept continually picturing the characters in my mind to help get thru the "recital" type reading.....I loved the twists that were in the story...it was really a nice story....Id like to see it become a movie....produced and written by the right people.

The bottom line is this: I do recommend this book. It is a really good story. It is my personal taste only in terms of the narration. If you like FF stories and the human and genuine character that she puts into her stories...you will enjoy this book.

Good history lesson

I enjoyed the story once it finally started to unfold. Not sure why Fannie Flagg narrates her own books. Kinda like she is reading a children’s book to a group of kids. And I had wished there was Polish accents.nothing better than a historical fiction with accents. Sometimes the girls had a Wisconsin accent and sometimes none??? Anyway it unfolded well in the end

Southern charm at its most engaging

I’m sure not all Southern mothers are narcissists but enough of them are to make this book relatable—and, fortunately, humorous! My last Flagg novel, I Still Dream about You, was OK. But this one is delicious. The mama drama is authentic and the story is a delight. Try it. I think you might be charmed, too. And Fannie does a great job reading her own books. Enjoy!

Delightful. Funny. Informative.

What a great story! You think you know where it’s headed and it veers off. I’m not sentimental, but this book was touching and just lovely all around.

This was great. Funny and informative.

Fannie Flagg is a master storyteller. I knew nothing about the WASP's contribution to World War II.

Latest Fannie Flagg a Winner

Another fun and funny book by Fannie Flagg. Full of crazy characters and an interwoven plot that takes place in the present and in the past about women flyers and a forgotten piece of WW 2 history .
