Publisher's summary

A larger-than-life old man with a fondness for vodka goes on an unexpected adventure in this whimsical novel — perfect for fans of Forrest Gump and A Man Called Ove.

After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he’s still in good health—and tomorrow is his hundredth birthday. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn’t interested, and he’d like a bit more control over his vodka consumption. So he decides to escape.

He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash, some unpleasant criminals, a friendly hot-dog stand operator, and an elephant.

Quirky and utterly unique, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared has charmed millions of people around the world.

Enjoyable, fun fluff

Any additional comments?

This is a light, easy listen. The narration was spot on, and the story was fun. If you enjoy P. G. Wodehouse, you will probably have a great listen with this.

Witty and Entertaining

An international version of Forest Gump, this book jumps in place and time taking the reader through the current escapade of Allan and through his 100 years on this earth as he meets up with various historical figures through quirky and flat our ridiculous adventures. The characters were fun and likable, and made for a motley but good crew.

Although not laugh out loud funny, it was witty, well written, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable.

Mr. Crossley does a great job with the narration switching between the voices and really giving the characters color.

What a romp!

... a romp through time. through countries, through cultures.
Sometimes outrageous, sometimes ridiculous, often utterly unbelievable, but it was always a fun read.
So enjoyable, I'll listen to it again.

Delightfully quirky

This novel was full of the outlandish adventures of Allan, the novels central character. Supported by a cast of equally interesting characters through his life- some famous and some not. A very enjoyable book.
