    "Awesomely fun story!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes supernatural stories. Although I don't mind reading another zombie/vampire/werewolf book, this story has a fresh and new perspective that opens up the door for unexplored possibilities. The best thing about it is that it's FUN. I immediately loved Ava, and her quirky personality.

What other book might you compare That Ghoul Ava to and why?

Well, not to any of the other T.W. Brown books I've read. The one thing it keeps reminding me of for some reason is the show Lost Girl...

    Which scene was your favorite?

So many scenes stand out in such a short book, but I really liked when Ava first woke up to her new... condition...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to this book all in one sitting!

    Any additional comments?

This book is pretty light on the gore, although does deal with adult situations and themes. The only reason this book got knocked one star for the performance was something that happened early on. The reader didn't differentiate the characters voices hardly at all, and a spot of dialogue was really confusing to follow who was speaking. This flaw seemed to disappear by the end of the book.

I can not choose a favorite.

    "A ghoulish good book!!!"
If you could sum up That Ghoul Ava in three words, what would they be?

    Funny, awesome and entertaining.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

Glitter dust LOL!! After the Twilight comment in the beginning :)

Have you listened to any of Celia Aurora de Blas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    This is my first e-book.

Who was the most memorable character of That Ghoul Ava and why?

Ava, She can't always 'get' the word she wants to say, how often has that happened to you and me? She's a regular gal with the same problems we have she's just dead now. Her attitude is priceless!

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. I love the whole zombie, vampire genre and now I have another thing to add to it. This is a short book at 2 hours, you can listen to it while cleaning house, I did, and it made the time fly. Thank you for a great story!

    "My kind of ghoul."
What made the experience of listening to That Ghoul Ava the most enjoyable?

Have you ever came across a story with a ghoul in it? My guess is that you have. That's good, except you need to scratch everything you've learned about ghouls out and start over. Ava is NOT your average ghoul. For one, this ghoul rocks. After the first scene of Ava's nails becoming claws and her climbing her walls to get away from the sun, I was hooked!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ava, of course!! Lisa is funny too.

What does Celia Aurora de Blas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Celia adds the extra snarky sounds that aren't fully portrayed in the written version. Like when Ava is talking about her ex-husband and his new wife.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed my ass off at different times. I loved the scene when Ava made the store clerk 'dirty' his pants and pass out. Also the scene where Ava had to go to the car wash on the hood to get the vampire dust off.

    Any additional comments?

Oddly enough, I was eating chocolate when Ava mentioned dead or dying children smell like chocolate. Ever have an inner struggle? I did then! Yes, I went ahead and finished my chocolate. It's chocolate after all! Besides, it just made the story that much sweeter.

    Story
"first audio book i've listened to"
Where does That Ghoul Ava rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well pretty high considering it's the first one I've listened to. It was a little hard to get into at first because Celia stuttered through the beginning, but you could tell when she truly got into the Ava character and owned it. It went from sounding like she was reading a report/instructions to actually being Ava and taking on the full character. I love her voice. It's what I would call a smooth honey whiskey...it's smooth and attractive with just that roughness to give it character.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

There were several moments that were memorable. It's hard for me to remember it all since I didn't actually have to focus completely like when you do to read a book, so I got distracted easily, but the parts in the beginning when she was talking about Sammy Hagar I believe being stringy had me laughing. Any scene with Belinda, loved her character.

Which character – as performed by Celia Aurora de Blas – was your favorite?

Ava hands down. She owned that character after she found her flow. I loved how she kept up with Ava's internal ramblings and drifting off into space mid story telling. Belinda was my 2nd fave. I loved how she was able to switch back and forth when they were having dialogue with no prob whatsoever. How she went from having so much emotion to none with the snap of her fingers and back again was great. She made me forget at times that only 1 person was reading this story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was. The story flowed great and the writing style was intriguing. Loved TW Brown's play on words.

    Any additional comments?

The one thing that scraped at my nerves, especially with this being a novella, was the repetitiveness of Ava describing what she looks like in ghoul form...especially her rows of razor sharp teeth and widening jaw that make it impossible for her to talk. It wouldn't be so bad that it's mentioned if it weren't described like the first time every time during the story like we didn't know what was happening. And I was excited when Celia talked in the accent for the male vamp, but she would lost it mid sentence. I know accents can be hard, just wish she could've held it through all the dialogue. Other than that I really enjoyed the story and wouldn't mind picking up the book so I can really dig deep into this story.

    "The Ghoul Of My Dreams"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is a fun romp through the afterlife of the ghoul Ava and her adventures in monster land.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ava, hands down is the stand out in this series.

Have you listened to any of Celia Aurora de Blas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but at times the performance was a bit staccato in the beginning but smoothed out as time went on, as if the narrator was initially uncomfortable with the material and was reading it more like instructions rather than a story. Her voice is soft and silky and I can definitely put my vote for her as Ava going forward.

If you could take any character from That Ghoul Ava out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I can see myself being one of Belinda's "dinner" companions...

    Story
"Ava is definitely worth getting to know."
Where does That Ghoul Ava rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I haven't listened to a lot of audiobooks but out of the few that I have heard, this was near the top in terms of the story. I really didn't much care for the narrator's voice. She didn't seem to catch the right tone for the main character. Instead of sounding like an immature 32-year-old, she sounded like a dumb blonde teenager and I don't think that is what the author probably intended.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

The imagery presented when Ava was all naked under the self-serve car wash lights, being hosed down by a giggling seventeen-year-old all because she got splattered with vampire glitter dust. It actually made me laugh out loud it was so absurd, which was awesome. Oh, and dead children smelling like candy. Seriously, where does the author come up with this stuff?

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I don't know that it did. The tense moments didn't seem all that tense the way the narrator read it. She just didn't resonate with the character. I think if I had read this book rather than listened to it, I would have had a more favorable opinion. There were also a couple parts where I imagine there was a break in the text to signify a new section was starting but when the narrator read it, those pauses weren't significant enough to instantly realize a new scene was starting so I had to consciously stop to think about what was happening, which then made me lose track of what I was listening to, and I had to go back thirty seconds just to listen to it again.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did actually chuckle out loud a couple of times. Some of the things the author wrote (knowing he's a male writing a female main character) were humorous. I think the parts about Ava seeing her female anatomy on video and how she at one point crossed her arms in order to push her best attributes forward were pretty much right on the money as far as seeming like they came from a female perspective. I also liked Lisa's character, although sometimes she seemed to be the far more adult of the two even though she was a solid fifteen years younger.

    Any additional comments?

I didn't realize at first that this was two separate stories in one so it was a little weird how in the middle (or what I thought was the middle but was actually the next story) the main character kept referencing stuff that had just happened (but really was from the first story). Now that I see that it was two separate stories, it makes a lot more sense. So just a word of caution to anyone else reading this before they listen to the story, it's not just unnecessary repetition, it's simply the back-story for those who hadn't heard the first story. I am really looking forward to listening to the next installment of Ava's story.

    "i love Ava"
Would you listen to That Ghoul Ava again? Why?

i loved the Ava story; i found the dark humor amazing; i love everything that T.W. Brown does. There is nothing he could write that i wouldn't read/or listen to, his writing is fantastic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

They were all pretty hilarious, but i'd have to say Ava and her naivety was thoroughly comical.

What does Celia Aurora de Blas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made me fall asleep her voice was great it wasn't easy to listen to audiobooks it was like hearing a bedtime story from my mom..

If you could take any character from That Ghoul Ava out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Morgan she always seemed to be put out; and i found that so great. Her superiority over everyone else was so funny..

    Any additional comments?

For anyone who thinks that this would be silly or not worth a read/listen i have news for you; it really is great; my husband loved it; i thought it was not going to be good; and then i folded and listened to the first one, and now i'm hooked..

What did you like most about That Ghoul Ava?

It was different from all the other books I've read. None of the clichés and great one liners from the lead character. I loved the lead character and her outlook on life, I've now bought the book as well and can't wait to start on the rest of the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

Without giving away any spoilers when she first woke up in the bathroom.

Have you listened to any of Celia Aurora de Blas’s other performances? How does this one compare?

It took me until chapter 2 to start to like Celia Aurora De Blas's performance. I felt she could have breathed a little more life into such and unusual character. I also found it confusing that she couldn't give the characters different voices. It was all read in the one tone and the Irish accent was awful.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I listened over a few days whilst out walking.

    Any additional comments?

Definitely buying the rest of the series, I far prefer the different narrator in the other books.

Would you listen to That Ghoul Ava again? Why?

I may re listen to this but only after I have listened to the whole series. I am looking forward to the next instalment.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

The part if the story line where Ava finds the baby and saves it sticks in my mind.
The anger she feels towards the people who did this and how she doesn't second guess what the outcome will be. The way she doesn't doubt herself while committing the self appointed revenge and not feeling any guilt for committing her first 'murder'.

Have you listened to any of Celia Aurora de Blas’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not heard any of her other performances but I think that with her distinct vocals I would recognise her story telling.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Although I was able to empathise with the main character I didn't cry at her sad backstory. I did have a giggle at some of her antics.

    Any additional comments?

This is the first instalment of Ava and I am looking forward to getting to know her better.
