Publisher's summary

The year 2060 is drawing to a close, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It's a time for loved ones to come together. But sometimes the deepest hatreds seethe within the closest relationships, and blood flows faster than water....

For Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the NYPSD, the job is a useful reminder of what she has to be grateful for this season. Hosting Roarke's big Irish family for the holiday may be challenging, but it's a joyful improvement on her own dark childhood.

Other couples aren't as lucky as Eve and Roarke. The Reinholds, for example, are lying on the floor of their Downing Street apartment, stabbed and bludgeoned almost beyond recognition. Those who knew them are stunned - and even more heartbroken by the overwhelming evidence that they were murdered by their own son. Twenty-six-year-old Jerry hadn't exactly made a good impression on all the bosses who fired him or the girlfriend who dumped him - but they didn't think he was capable of this.

Turns out Jerry is not only capable of brutality but taking a liking to it. With the money he's stolen from his parents, and a long list of grievances, he intends to finally make his mark on the world. Eve and her team already know the who, how, and why of this murder. What they need to pinpoint is where Jerry's going to strike next.

Fantastic as always-5 stars in all categories

I loved the connection of family & justice. I loved that despite being orphaned, Dallas, Rorke, and Nixie had all found families of their own. It also was real, and told the all too true story we see & hear each day- namely that we are ungrateful for our blessings. We forget to acknowledge that we don't accomplish anything alone. And we are reminded that there are those out there who refuse responsibility for their actions & actually think they are entitled to whatever they can grab, regardless of the fact that their desires are impacting others sometimes to death.
My bucket list has been the goal of thanking as many people as possible for their gifts of entertainment or artistry over the years. So, thank you, Nora Roberts for this series. I've enjoyed your work throughly. Your books are one of the few that I read again & again. They are also books that I think highly enough of to recommend to others. Even got my daughter to read again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thankful for the In Death series

Spoiled entitled homicidal idiots aren't just for our century. They belong to Eve's time, too. Jerry is the kind of character you want to hurt--badly. His old teacher is someone you cheer for. And then a couple of kids from a previous book show up, along with all of Roark's Irish relatives--and it's just a totally satisfying, awful, fun story. And it made me cry near the end--happy cry. Go figure.

Great addition to In Death series

Would you consider the audio edition of Thankless in Death to be better than the print version?

I always enjoy listening to the audio versions of the In Death books. Susan Ericksen usually does an outstanding job. I was very dissapointed that she made what I consider a careless mistake in the last minutes of the book by changing Nixie's last name. It is correct in the Kindle edition. I hope that this can be corrected. That was the only reason I didn't give the Performance 5 stars.

gritty but good

at first i was worried because the subject matter was so gritty & graphic, & althiugh that continued throughout the book, the surrounding story softened the harder subject matter. overall, it was nice to spend time with Eve, Rourke,Sommerset, Peabidy & the rest.

Is Nora writing these books?

Would you consider the audio edition of Thankless in Death to be better than the print version?

Most of the books that I own written by Robb are audio. I don't have any of the newer ones in print. I enjoy the audio

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No. It was entertaining and dark. Even though you know who the killer is, I still found the book a thriller. Very violent, my daughter says she hated the fact that so much time was in the killer's head. I loved the graphic detail and the suspense. 2nd time listening and enjoying even more. I think it was one of the best, but they seem very different from her earlier books, I hope she isn't turning into a James Patterson

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

Everything. She's wonderful and I purchase books that she is performing in, everyone should check out Montana Sky.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were crying moments with the award ceremony, comic moments with the sunglasses and the character of Eve is growing in such a positive way. I can see her as a parent as captain and as a sibling. I think we are going to meet more of Eve's family

Any additional comments?

Can't wait until her next book

Needs more Roarke

Another good addition to this addictive series, but not as much personal growth in this one for Eve. I also missed the supporting regular characters. They were not as integral as I expect to the story. I will always get any additions to this series. This is a fascinating world.

A good read

Sometimes you need a good book, not one that keeps you up at night or scares you silly but a good enjoyable book...this is one of those books.
It also provides an insight into the world of horse racing I had never thought of...

liked the story

Where does Thankless in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Liked the story-the narrator was hard to listen to at times-like chalk on a blackboard with some voices
