Publisher's summary

The year 2060 is drawing to a close, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It's a time for loved ones to come together. But sometimes the deepest hatreds seethe within the closest relationships, and blood flows faster than water....

For Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the NYPSD, the job is a useful reminder of what she has to be grateful for this season. Hosting Roarke's big Irish family for the holiday may be challenging, but it's a joyful improvement on her own dark childhood.

Other couples aren't as lucky as Eve and Roarke. The Reinholds, for example, are lying on the floor of their Downing Street apartment, stabbed and bludgeoned almost beyond recognition. Those who knew them are stunned - and even more heartbroken by the overwhelming evidence that they were murdered by their own son. Twenty-six-year-old Jerry hadn't exactly made a good impression on all the bosses who fired him or the girlfriend who dumped him - but they didn't think he was capable of this.

Turns out Jerry is not only capable of brutality but taking a liking to it. With the money he's stolen from his parents, and a long list of grievances, he intends to finally make his mark on the world. Eve and her team already know the who, how, and why of this murder. What they need to pinpoint is where Jerry's going to strike next.

A Bit Too Graphic

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I truly enjoy this series but I found this one a bit too graphic. Usually the murders have already been committed when Lt. Dallas shows up to solve. This one the reader had to live through the violence.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices of the characters - Amazing!

Great story

I love this series and have listened to most of them. Not sure what I will
Listen to for entertainment when I have exhausted the series. This was a great story. With a few exceptions the stories are always intriguing.

Classic Nora

Would you consider the audio edition of Thankless in Death to be better than the print version?

Wouldn't know. I go straight to the audio versions these days. Susan Ericksen reads for these characters much better than I do.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to the entire series and Susan is fantastically consistent. Except for an early title ,when she went for a different sound for Peabody, she's kept great continuity in the sound of all the characters. I love recognizing their voices.I'm sure if I listened to another author's work read by Susan that I would enjoy it as well, but I kind of like saving her voice for this cast of characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Nearly did.

Any additional comments?

Such a great addition to the series. All the elements that make an Eve/Roarke story great like tough and unconditional love, a good fight, family, life/career decisions, long time friends, threads of past stories returning, and more. So good. Thank you, Nora!

ONE OF THE BEST IN THE SERIES!!!!

JD Robb this is now my second favorite. This story touched me becasue I have a child and you just cant imagine how someone can do this. Being part of the award ceramony for Roarke and Eve was so touching I was as emotional as the family. This was a really really good story. I had to listen to it all the way through, it was just that good. If you have not listened to the others in the series please do yourself a mental service and please listen to them all of them. There are alot but I am not disappointed they are all really good. I so want to be a part of the Roarke and Eve family. Susan Ericksen deserves kudos as well she has been a awesome narrator all these characters come to life becasue of her. HAPPY LISTENING!! Cant wait till the next and the next and the next....

Reminder

This book is a reminder of the good and the bad in life. The people that risk their lives to keep us safe, and those that think nothing of life at all. JD Robb did a fabulous job of capturing values in this book ....with her usual extra special flare!!
