This is the captivating story of four generations. There's Moss, living in the shadow of a father whose obsession with power overshadows the needs of his only son; Jessica, the doomed mother who gave up everything to become the perfect Coleman wife; Moss and Billie's children, desperately trying to live up to the insurmountable expectations; and the grandchildren, heirs to a tarnished empire who just might fulfill their dreams.
Most of all this is the triumphant story of Billie Ames Coleman, a woman of courage and strength who holds them all together - in a tale as magnificent as the land that inspired it.

I read this story several years ago, I enjoyed it then and enjoyed it more in this format. Laural Merlington is a great story teller and a pleasure to listen too.
The only thing that saved this one was great narration. The writing was cliched, the characters flat, the plot predictable. Billie is a punching bag through the whole story and never grows into herself. I kept listening to see if she'd grow a backbone, but nope. It's hard to root for a character like that.
The love and joy along with the sorrow of the True meaning of FAMILY.
When the car blew up in the gargage. To show the unbeleivable belief of greed and anger.
Could not tell the it was only one person reading aloud. This was one talented person and not half a dozen readers. She did a wonderful job and I was right there listening to all of it, SPELLBOUND.
Yes, when Moss passed away. I couldn't stop crying.
In all the short years that I have been with Audible I have never been so drawn to any story as I was to this one. I was so ingrossed in this story that I cried, laughed ad wanted it to never end. Texas Rich was- is a wonderful story. The very BEST that I have ever heard.
"I can see a film coming"
This book is simply superb from start to finish. I have been up half the night listening to this book simply because I didn't want it to finish.
This would make a SUPERB film, I wonder if anyone has thought of it yet?
