Publisher's summary

After a terrible car accident destroys her life as she knew it, 20-year-old Kacey escapes to Florida, where she encounters an irresistible man determined to capture her wounded heart.

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago Kacey Cleary's life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend's lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, Kacey and her 15-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. They're struggling to make ends meet at first, but Kacey's not worried. She can handle anything - anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey's guarded heart - even if it means revealing an explosive secret that could shatter both of their worlds.

love love love!!!

Elizabeth Louise has to be my favorite narrator hands down, but this story....so heart breaking yet loving at the same time! I love the friendship brewing between all of the characters. For someone like me who tends to be closed off...for reasons different than this story, but I can definitely relate to the trust issues and not wanting to let anyone in. This is a story of true forgiveness and healing, I can only hope that anyone would seek help when they need it. No matter how much they think they don't .

Cute Story

I enjoyed the story seems like a lot of sex for a young adult book but I'm not complaining

Couldnt stop listening

It was beautiful and tragic.... It kept me up at night listening because i wanted a happy ending between these two broken and beautiful souls... I think everyone must read this and reflect on the impact of our actions.

Good

Struggled to finish. It did pick up by the end and overall was okay. It does not make me want to read the next in the series, though.

Next big thing

I loved the characters I felt like id known them my whole life. I didn't see any of the twists coming. Blown away! And I'm so happy there are more backstories about the other characters.

good book

It was a little predictable, but still a good story. I do wish that a man would narrate the male characters. It would sound better and not so cartoonish.

Mediocre then good.

I’m a fan of KA Tucker after reading the Wilds series. Half way through Ten Tiny Breaths I was convinced it was only a 3 star novel with a mediocre story. I was determined to finish it because I had used my only credit for it - and I am so glad I finished it. The ending was not quite what I expected although it does make me think of Silver Linings Playbook. Definitely a story worth finishing. KA Tucker has convinced me to read another of her novels after finishing this one.

breathe

this was a very different story. I had a hard time getting into it at first. I love the ending though. I cant help but think that the crazy of life it really one big circle. we all have secrets we hide. this narrator was not my favorite. I think that was why I had a hard time in the beginning.

An emotional ride totally worth reading!

After enduring the tragedy and loss that Kacey Cleary has, there's no wonder why she holds everyone at arms length, doesn't shake hands, takes all of her anger out on a punching bag, and has terrible trouble at making new friends, much less opening herself to a love interest. She's so lost in the nightmares of the tragedy that she's barely living. Kacey is also snarky and quick witted - a girl after my own heart. But when her younger sister begs for her to try, to try to make their new life different than their old, she vows that she'll do just that - try.

"You don't want me, Ben. I'm seven layers of fucked up with a side of bullshit."

Trent is the epitome of a good boyfriend. He's hot and sweet and he makes her smile for the first time in forever. Each day with him, Kacey's icy exterior starts to melt. But he's got just as much baggage as she does. Kacey avoids talking about her family and her past so much that it doesn't even register that she might need to know about Trent's past and family some day. And when everyone's baggage is finally opened and revealed, it's explosive.

"No human can bury their past indefinitely. It’s only a matter of time before you crack."

The way the author develops each character is incredible. The reader truly comes to understand and adore not only Kacey and Trent, but Livie, Storm, Mia and many others in this book. Sometimes so many secondary characters can be overwhelming or confusing, but the author does a great job at painting the picture and using each character to push Kacey's and Trent's development to a hilt. The writing is uncomplicated yet expressive and aids to the reader diving into all the emotions. The author also did a fabulous job at examining the symptoms and results of PTSD, in addition to the work it takes to move through it and overcome it. I'm excited to read the next book in the series.

"Just breathe. Ten tiny breaths … Seize them. Feel them. Love them."

The narrator did a fantastic job at bringing the characters to life.
