Publisher's summary

"We're about to cross the point of no return. God help us; we're flying in the dark, and we don't know where the hell we're going."

Facing down an unprecedented malevolent enemy, the government responds with a nuclear attack. America as it was is gone forever, and now every citizen - from the president of the United States to the homeless on the streets of New York City - will fight for survival.

Swan Song is Robert McCammon's prescient and shocking vision of a post-apocalyptic nation, a grand epic of terror and, ultimately, renewal.

In a wasteland born of rage and fear, populated by monstrous creatures and marauding armies, earth's last survivors have been drawn into the final battle between good and evil, that will decide the fate of humanity. They include Sister, who discovers a strange and transformative glass artifact in the destroyed Manhattan streets... Joshua Hutchins, the pro wrestler who takes refuge from the nuclear fallout at a Nebraska gas station... and Swan, a young girl possessing special powers, who travels alongside Josh to a Missouri town where healing and recovery can begin with Swan's gifts. But the ancient force behind earth's devastation is scouring the walking wounded for recruits for its relentless army, beginning with Swan herself.

a classic supernatural apocolypse novel

its long , it borrows alot from the stand even the villain is almost a rf word for word but it has many elements that make it good on its own , and many original concepts I read it when I was younger and liked it enough to listen to it now I still prefer the stand , but i like this book.

Finally!

I was so excited to finally see Swan Song added to recordings! I read this book about 8 years ago for the 1st time and it scared me to death! I have read it several times after that and it gets me ever time! If you like sci-fi then don't miss this one. Yes, it's long but you are gripped by the action from the very beginning! Narrator does a great job as well!

Swan song review

Absolutely one of the best books ive had the pleasure of experiencing. It is by definition a "page turner." From the beginning to the end, a pleasure to envelope yourself with. I had a hard time turning away from it to do what i needed to do. I definitely recommend this book.

Great Story!!

This story had me hooked from the beginning to the end. I originally downloaded it for my long rides to and from work, but found myself sitting in my driveway for 20 minutes for a chapter to end! I would recommend this book to anyone.

Not what I expected, but good

I was expecting a post apocalyptic story and that’s what I got. I did not expect the super natural aspect of the story which kept things entertaining. If you’re looking for something similar to the book the stand by Stephen king this would be a good pick.

Worthwhile Listening

I was engrossed in this book. It felt like it paralleled our current economic situation at least as to how the book starts out. Well written and engaging, although not for the faint as it has some fairly graphic portrayals of living in a post nuclear world. I would recommend this book in an instant.

Wow. What a ride.

For a 32 hour book to keep me riveted and anxious to get back in the car each morning is by definition a 5 star +. And I got this on sale. Wow. Looking forward to trying more titles by this author. The narrator was top rate, a must for this type of book. If you like Stephen King books, you will like this one. This is not my favorite genre, but any book written this well is a 5 star no matter what genre. Highest recommendation.

Narration was interesting...

Story grew on me. The voice acting was very difficult to believe in the beginning of the book. Most of the characters sound *stupid. I think this was attempted as a form of character development on the part of the narrator, but it made the first 6 or so hours of certain characters lines laughable. After the weird voices however, this book takes off.

A must for lovers of PA

Along the lines of Steven King’s “The Stand”, “Swan Song” is a well written and engaging post-apocalyptic book with a bit of the supernatural mixed in. The book starts with a background of what’s leading up to the 17th of July, then follows three groups of people on their journeys through the country after a nuclear exchange.
The book does a good job of mixing action and plot development to keep the reader engaged all while painting a vividly stark picture of the new land that people must endure. This is a must read for the PA lover.

The performance was 5 star, but there are times where you can here the narrator breath or lick his lips. Which doesn't ruin the story, but it's noticeable something I haven't found on other Audible books.
