Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

Surprisingly good...

I've enjoyed every Virgin River book but this one kept awake late at night listening to it. It was surprise because the blurb doesn't sound that interesting, but it is. Nora is the daughter of a mentally ill mother and elderly father. Her drug addicted boyfriend dumped her with two babies in Virgin River and now is in jail. So Nora has been to hell and back and is just working really hard to survive with her babies. She looks for work picking apples and that's we're she meets Tom. He's the owner of the farm. Their story is one of heartbreak, family and hope. The added bonus of this book is that you get to meet Hank Cooper, the hero of the new series Thunder Point.

Narration: it's Therese Plummer so there's not much to add. She's the best narrator out there. There's a lot of emotional moments in this book and she just make them more intense.

Happy Ending to a trouble life.

Would you consider the audio edition of Sunrise Point to be better than the print version?

Yes but only because Therese Plummer does a GREAT job at bring the book to life. I read and listen to the book.

What did you like best about this story?

For me it was her happy ending, she got the man and her dad.

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

EVERYTHING she is the best!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The part where her father told her that she had no making up to do that it was him that owed her.

Any additional comments?

Love this series!

I love listening to books in a series. This series uses some key characters in each book but doesn't make you feel like each book is a review of the all the other books in a series. The narrator is perfect. I enjoy these books!

As enjoyable as all others in the series.

A great listen all on its own and a wonderful addition to the Virgin River series. I have enjoyed this series so much I listened to them all again in sequence before treating myself to this latest addition.

Pleasant little series for light reading

If you could sum up Sunrise Point in three words, what would they be?

Pleasant, predictable, light-weight

If you’ve listened to books by Robyn Carr before, how does this one compare?

I find the entire Virgin River series to be enjoyable for a day at the beach or a plane ride or any other time when light reading can take you to someplace pleasant.. While the story-lines are totally predictable, the characters are very likable and feel like old friends. I will say that the men are (more than?) a tad fantasy-like with their protectiveness of women, combined with a new-age respect for women's rights, and a total selflessness when it comes to pleasing their women sexually! Where were these guys back when I was looking?

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

It's interesting that when Plummer is speaking as Jack, or Preacher, or any of the other men in the series, I never think of her as anything but male! In the beginning of the series, I was able to tell every guy by their "voices", though as more and more men have been introduced, it has become more difficult to tell Jack from Lief or Collin or Denny, etc. Still, she does a fantastic job with voices!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I chuckled occasionally.

Any additional comments?

I would tell my friends looking for a pleasant, easy read to pick up any of the Virgin River books!
