Publisher's Summary

RITA Award winner Robyn Carr is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author. In this 19th installment of her Virgin River series, Tom Cavanaugh returns home to take over his family’s apple orchard and settle down. Single mom Nora Crane is nothing like the kind of woman he thought he’d fall for—yet he can’t take his eyes off her. And while they have different concepts about family, they soon find out how quickly those ideas can change.

Reading allows me to travel through time; to visit the world's unique and stunning places. To become somebody I am not... It is glorious.

    Story
    "Loved a Love Story; I usually Don't"
What did you like best about this story?

I fell in love with this locale. I wanted to move into the farm house with the big porch and inviting kitchen. I wanted to climb the ladder and pick one of every variety apple and do a taste comparison. I enjoyed this story far more than I expected. I don't generally go for the romance genre. I detest so many of those books. They feel inane and often make me a bit uncomfortable. But this story was different the book was about developing the characters of Nora, Tom, Maxie, and the character of the orchard itself. I love when I really get to explore the natures of a person in a book. I love when an author makes me angry, confused, sad, joyous, surprised. There was a scene in this book when Nora was talking to Maxie and they were sharing their tales of motherhood and I found I was teary eyed. It brought my own immense and intense motherly love right to the surface. And then there was a scene where Nora's life was at risk and of course Tom was able to be the hero. Sometimes those scenes offend me because they often imply that a woman is helpless and cannot save herself. But this scene made me laugh at its familiar tone -- and the odd risks of life when you live in an area where bears roam.

Yep, this tale was of romance, but it was also a story of motherhood, friendship, hopefullness, and having a joyous attitude. It made me really happy.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scenes that took place when the orchard was open to the public. That was the moment that I decided I needed to live there. In that town. in that home. With those people.

Audible started me reading fiction again. What a treat to have professional actors narrating a book I may not have had the time to "read".

"Only fair and very predictable from the start."

The characters did not seem at all real. Most were too good to be true . The whole story was hard to believe. I don't recommend this one .

    "Not as good as usual"

While the story is sweet, it drags a bit and just isn't the 'page turner' that books in this series usually are. I loved some of the new characters, like Maxie Cavanaugh, but felt too much time was spent on the going-no-where relationship with the extremely unlikable Darcy. While most of her books have the main characters getting together initially half way through, it didn't happen until near the end in this one. The side plot of Cooper and Jack (which clearly is setting up a future main character) was also not a fun nor very interesting one. I still love the Virgin River books, and can't wait to listen to the next in the series, but I doubt I'll listen to this one again.

    Story
"Not as Good as Earlier Books in this Series"
    Any additional comments?

I liked the story of Nora, a single mother of two little girls who has never been married and is destitute. She applies for a job at an apple orchard and meets Tom. He refuses to hire her because he thinks apple picking would be too rigorous for her. However, his grandmother hires her instead. I absolutely loved grandma and she was the highlight of the story with her vivaciousness and spunkiness. Tom feels that he needs someone sophisticated and classy as opposed to someone like Nora who is down on her luck but is a good honest person. The story was enjoyable but not as good as some of the earlier books in this series. I think it might be time to move on from Virgin River.

    Story
    "Never fails to satisfy me"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, the storyline and the narrator brings this story to life. You laugh at times, cry at times and wish there was a Virgin River. I love each sequel that brings me up to date with the characters I grown to love.

What other book might you compare Sunrise Point to and why?

There isn't another book that compares to this story. There are other series I love but they are all quite different, but I love them all the same.

Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?

Nora was my favorite in this book, whatever problem she faces, she goes forward. I love that she met her father and remember why he left.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Virgin river a place that you would love to call home.

    Any additional comments?

Virgin river is a place you'll wish you were able to live forever. I like that most of the characters work together to overcome a problem either collectively or as individuals.
