Publisher's summary

Knitting and life. They're both about beginnings - and endings. That's why it makes sense for Lydia Goetz, owner of A Good Yarn on Seattle's Blossom Street, to offer a class called Knit to Quit. It's for people who want to quit something - or someone! - and start a new phase of their lives.

First to join is Phoebe Rylander. She recently ended her engagement to a man who doesn't know the meaning of faithful, and she's trying to get over him. Then there's Alix Turner. She and her husband, Jordan, want a baby, which means she has to quit smoking. And Bryan Hutchinson joins the class because he needs a way to deal with the stress of running his family's business - not to mention the lawsuit brought against him by an unscrupulous lawyer.

Life can be as complicated as a knitting pattern. Just ask Anne Marie Roche. She and her adopted daughter, Ellen, finally have the happiness they wished for. And then a stranger comes to her bookstore asking questions.

Or ask Lydia herself. Not only is she coping with her increasingly frail mother, but she and Brad have unexpectedly become foster parents to an angry, defiant 12-year-old.

But as Lydia already knows, when life gets difficult and your stitches are snarled, your friends can always help!

Some good, tired of narrator

Through the beginning of the book, I wasn't pulled into the storylines. About halfway through I started to connect. I wish more would have been written on Alix. A shame to include a character and not write much about her. I really enjoyed the ending and at that point was really involved in the storylines. I couldn't stand Delilah as the narrator. I love her on the radio, but horrible as a narrator. Everybody had the same voice and expressions. It ruined a lot of the book for me. Overall, I liked the book though.

Excellent

Her books are so good. They leave you feeling so good after listening to them. This was the first one I had listened to that was narrated by Delilah. I must say, she was excellent. You could hear the characters smile in her voice. It was very well read!

Formulaic Hallmark channel

The story or rather multiple stories are told episodically like a soap opera. The characters are thin and the dialogue is hackneyed but I stuck with it you probably will to because you want to see how things turn out. Foster care , adoption , infertility due to cancer treatment and illegitimate birth form sub themes of this novel much as they do on afternoon soaps

Nice enough story, terrible reader.

I nearly didn't finish the book and wish I had listened to a sample before downloading. The reader used way too much enthusiasm for my taste and several times I wondered if I was listening to a children's book. It really spoiled the story for me.

Narrator Lacking

The story was wonderful as usual however it was hard to listen to the narrator. I didn’t feel she took me on a journey with the story. I had a hard time connecting to her.

Great characters

As always, the characters and setting are entertaining and engaging. When I have some free time, I would like to make the sample scarf from the book. I also like the way Macomber creates characters who love Jesus, since he is my Savior as well.

Cute story - terrible narration

The story is nice, but the narrator is a big distraction. She does not read with appropriate inflection and she uses the same voice throughout - for every character. I recommend a different version of this book.
