I AM LEGALLY BLIND AND ENJOY LISTENING TO STORIES OF FAITH, HISTORICAL CHRISTIAN NOVELS, AND BOOKS WITHOUT SWEARING ESP. USING GODS NAME
WHAT AN EXCITING BOOK. IT GIVES US A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THI S ERA IN JEWISH HISTORY AND ITS KING AND PROPHET. THE AUTHOR HAS DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AND USED PERTINENT SCRIPTURE WHICH IS SO APPLICABLE TO THE STORY LINE. IT WAS A BOOK THAT WAS HARD TO PUT DOWN - EXCITING, SCRIPTURAL, AND INSPIRATIONAL FOR OUR DAY.
I have already recommended it to many friends for it's terrific message and historical/biblical accuracy.
The character development is superb.
There were some flaws in the recording, and rough chapter transitions in this recording that I did not hear in the first two. Hopefully this was just a recording anomaly
This book made me laugh, and it made me cry - it was a very realistic account of the time and the situations with real characters. The people of this story come alive and are very relate-able . As a book about faith in God during trying times, it was easy to identify with each character's struggle to believe and to act and live according to that belief.
As I said in my reviews of Gods and Kings and Song of Redemption, this book is also a good read for guys as well as for the ladies. I have read the first 3 books in this series, and I have found all three to be well written and very engaging. You won't get bored by these books; that is for sure!
It is such a fun way to learn so much about Bible history. I learned things I never knew before and enjoyed it all the while. There are 5 in this series and I loved each!
At times the character voices are distracting, but nothing compares with the distraction of poor editing. A chapter will end, but before the last punctuation mark the next chapter is announced without a breath in between. This happens numerous times during the narration. At least once, the last word in the chapter was cut off as the next chapter began.
Please anyone wanting to be blown away about the History of the Jewish nation take these books into a closet an shut the door.
Because you will want to do nothing more once you start.. Happy listening guys . Audible is the best.
The book, and the series, is excellent. The narrator is pretty good, but the editing is poor. There is a long pause between some chapters and with others, more troubling, there is not even a breath between the end of one sentence and the beginning of the next.
Lynn Austin has written another inspiring book which makes the Bible story and characters come to life. It teaches profound Christian principles through very understandable human experiences. It shows the unstoppable heart warming love of a Father God who never gives up on His faulty earthly children!
Totally enjoyed this historical novel. I learned so much about Hezzakiah and the Old Testament. I have encouraged friends and family to read Lynn Austin novels.
