Publisher's summary

“The plot twists ingeniously...an engaging, often chilling book.” - The New York Times Book Review

A writer in California. A doctor in Boston. A motel owner and his employee in Nevada. A priest in Chicago. A robber in New York. A little girl in Las Vegas. They’re a handful of people from across the country, living through eerie variations of the same nightmare.

A dark memory is calling out to them. And soon they will be drawn together, deep in the heart of a sprawling desert, where the terrifying truth awaits...

No one tells these kinds of stories like Koontz!

Just great. Really really great. Was involved the entire time and loved all the characters.

Intriguing story great narrator

I almost didn't purchase this because of the negative reviews about the narrator... I have to say I don't know what they're talking about the narrator has a warm voice... does characters well and has a very convincing delivery.... I enjoyed this book

All that for... that?

Um-No.......................
I want my 29(or whatever) amount of hours back. The set- up was Ok... The back drop to their lives was a bit much. The ending made me want to slap a face, any face

Needs to be reissued with a different narrator.

It almost drove me crazy listening to hour after hour of this narrator. The story, as usual with Koontz, was very good, but the reader was an enormous detraction. Every character (and there were many in this book) sounded like a close relative of Jackie Mason. Even the Chinese guy and the Black guy. The female characters were particularly horrible. The military guys and all the male characters sounded like they were in their late 50s at least, when they were supposed to be in their 30s (that, in addition to the Bronx Jewish accent). Overall, good story, terrible performance.

Entertaining, but nothing special.

This was an interesting listen, but by no means extraordinary. The narrator was alright, I wasn't wowed nor annoyed by him. the story is clearly marked by its time of release (80s and also Koontz, so don't go into this one hoping for any type of representation...). I suppose if you enjoy the show Manifest, you will likely have a good time listening to Strangers.

Interesting Strangers

I have 4 stars because it was a new concept and the characters were able to be pictured in my mind's eye. The story was good. Just became a tad too long toward the last part.
It wasn't my favorite book by Dean Koontz, but I would definitely recommend it.

Surprised, Shocked and Thrilled all at once

This was a great book. I was surprised at a lot of the events. Just when I didn’t think it was this or that I was wrong! Close to the end it was thrilling and wasn’t sure what was going to happen next. A must read if you enjoy Dean Koontz books like me :)
