Publisher's summary

“The plot twists ingeniously...an engaging, often chilling book.” - The New York Times Book Review

A writer in California. A doctor in Boston. A motel owner and his employee in Nevada. A priest in Chicago. A robber in New York. A little girl in Las Vegas. They’re a handful of people from across the country, living through eerie variations of the same nightmare.

A dark memory is calling out to them. And soon they will be drawn together, deep in the heart of a sprawling desert, where the terrifying truth awaits...

Decent but Excessively Long

This is a good story that should have been told in 350 pages instead of 700. The first third to a half really dragged.

Book is great, Narrator not so much

After reading some of the other reviews, I felt I had to add my sentiment to the others who feel that book itself is great! Dick Hill's intrepretations of the characters really grated on my nerves and almost caused me to move on to another book. The female characters are intoned in such a whiny whimpy voice that I wondered what Mr. Hill was thinking. The voices of the daughter also grated on me. The male voices were relatively fine, though they seemed to change a bit as the book went along.
My advice grin and bear the narration, the book is a winner.

filled with suspense and surprises

Loved it! The story kept me entertained during my walks and while cleaning my house. What an awesome and suspenseful story. Characters are nicely developed and utilized. Performance was great with the exception of the colonel's voice. It was laughable. I could not understand what he was saying at times when reading in the colonels voice. Otherwise, great reading.

Pretty Predictable

I mostly enjoyed this book but it was very predictable. However, I loved the characters and the authors point of view.

Awesome!

Dick Hills performance of this story is as awesome as the story itself. I will definitely have to listen to more Koontz novels.
